I believe, men would prefer to date someone who is alike

At least, my ex did

Study abroad in Spain with a winter holiday in Gstaad doesn’t really count as a necessary life experience. Try again.

+1

OP, do you really think that this would not be a consideration for anyone no matter their gender?

It’s silly to start a marriage without figuring out how you’re going to have enough money. Inherited wealth just adds more options for what you can do and still have the numbers work.

Both the husband and wife work upper middle class jobs, but the husband has student loans and the wife's parents are easily in the top 1%. I never thought of a woman's wealth as something taken into consideration in a relationship, maybe her education level but never her literal salary/wealth. Am I being naive? Do some men want to marry or date wealthier women, in a sort of gendered reversed gold digger scenario?

Every watch/read Pride and Prejudice or any BBC production? It’s real!

No you are mistaken a wealthy man will date anyone he see as attractive. Wealthy women do not have that wide of a pool because they place restrictions on who is good enough for them. If you are really wealthy(like 0.001% not 1%) you only work if you want to work and you can take off anytime you want. You do not want someone who can not take off from work or asks to stay at a cheaper place.
