How many kids makes you a weirdo?

Np. This seems to be the standard reply. If I have less children or a smaller house it must only mean I am jealous of your 8 kids and mansion

Hate to burst your bubble but I got married at 24, had my first kid at 28 and second at 31. We decided to stop at 2 and very happy we did. We live in a very comfortable house but it isnt 7,000 square foot.

There maybe some jealous people but most people will secretly say "I'm glad I'm not them!"

Any more than fits in a minivan, so 5 I guess. But I give the side-eye to anyone who has more than they can actually manage. And yes, don't expect other people's sympathy for your finances or logistical problems. Nobody made you do this.

Um no it just drives me bonkers when people have 4+ kids and then complain that daycare, college, etc is too expensive and that they are “donut hole.” Huge eye roll re: parents who have that many kids applying for FA for college. And kids get annoyed by their siblings.

Thankfully financial aid officers/policies don’t discriminate against innocent children who didn’t have a say in how many siblings they would have. I’m guessing that kids from big families of modest means have always been and will always be prime beneficiaries of financial aid, and rightly so.

Ugh don’t have that many kids if you can’t afford to.

A child can go to college on a ROTC scholarship. Why should people not have the number of kids that makes sense to them, knowing that college is priced on a sliding scale based on income?

Your parents don't owe you a college tuition.

Good luck “working your way through college” and not drowning in debt in 2020 and beyond. It’s not possible anymore.

Totally untrue. Community college, state schools, scholarships. Not everyone needs to go to a mediocre private school for $75k a year.

Anonymous wrote:I have 2 and definitely already have my hands full so anything more than that seems crazy to me. However, I don’t actually view the family as “weird” until they have more kids than they can handle/raise well. And those things are determined on an individual family basis; some people can manage well and take good care of 6+ kids while some can’t really handle any...but generally also I think it’s too many kids if you have more than can fit w the whole family in a standard size minivan (7 seats so 5 kids, 2 adults so if you have more than 5 kids and have to buy a larger van or SUV to get everyone in the same vehicle, then that’s too many)

1-I don’t think kids should feel forced to go to cc
2-State schools are $35k+/yr (and that’s just now; the cost keeps increasing) times multiple kids and years
3-It’s very hard to get a full ride ROTC scholarship, and again I wouldn’t want my kid to feel forced to do that because I chose to have too many kids
