Thinking it is ok people suffer for an eternity because of something they didn’t believe. Highly, highly immoral. |
Do you believe it is immoral to sentence a pedophiles because you don't believe it is a crime? In some cultures you can legitimately have sex with children or marry a child, so those should not suffer? |
This is just not a good argument, and forgive me but I do not see the relevance. But for the record, of course don't think that. |
Your word choice is wrong. It's not "immoral" to believe that. And no one said that is "OK" for people to suffer for eternity for a choice they made. It is tragic and very sad. God weeps for them and most likely will hold many of us accountable for not working harder to spread the Truth. But ultimately, yes, it is their choice. |
Sorry, I disagree. Saying it is right for a supreme being to make well intentioned people who live good lives suffer for an eternity is as immoral as anything I can think of. It's a spiritual holocaust. If you think that is OK, then I am more moral than you and more moral than the god you believe in. |
In contrast, True believers are touched by the idea of their big powerful god weeping for someone who screwed up, thus forcing god to send them to hell for eternity |
You'd think, that God, being God, could change the rules any time he wanted to, but apparently that is not the case. Eons ago, he made the rule that people who don't believe in him must go to hell, and that's that. The only way around it, is to stop believing in that particular version of God (there are many to choose from), or to stop believing altogether. Many make these choices, but in the eyes of people who still believe in a certain iteration of the Christian god (e.g., the Evangelical's god or the Roman Catholic's God), they are going to hell anyhow. |
If "God weeps for them," why wouldn't God intervene to prevent people from going to Hell? |
Ok, but didn't you just wrote above: "Thinking it is ok people suffer for an eternity because of something they didn’t believe". You contradict yourself. Pedophile believes that he actually do a favor to a child, in his moral codex, he doesn't do anything wrong. He does not believe in y society's set of rules/morals. But nevertheless, you think it is OK for him to suffer in jail "because of something he doesn't believe"? |
God gave people a choice and he clearly told them you have option 1 -- you follow the certain set of rules and you go to Heaven; or option 2 -- you disregard following the rules, and you go to Hell. God gave humans free will and always treats humans' choices with respect. Once you made your choice, he does not intervene. |
Did god not know in advance which choice each person would make? |
But why would God impose the punishment of Hell for not believing in Him? |
Can you provide citation, please? |
I don't think so. I think he is curiously watching at us every day to see what choices we will make )
|
Well, then there can be no prophecy, if he is not all knowing. |
