She can’t just sit in the left lane driving the speed limit the whole way and blocking traffic. I don’t care if you are mad people speed in that lane. Are you sure the speed limit was 50mph? The GW Pkwy ranges from 25-50, but changes the speed limit multiple times during a stretch.

The speed isn’t the issue. Cruising in the left lane rather than using it for passing is.

OP admits to racking up several minor traffic violations of which this is just one. Time for a driving class.

23:31 I've probably gotten more than my fair share of speeding tickets on DC area roads, so I'd never get mad at anyone for speeding. BTW, if you consider someone who drives cautiously and obeys the speed limit a horrible human, then you obviously have never encountered "true" horrible humans.

I have to say that the number of people who have resorted to calling me names in response to this post is unbeliveable. I guess its easier to be a bully when you're anonymous....

You are ignorant of a normal driving custom which also happens to be the law, and you weren’t paying attention. When you drive, you need to be checking your mirrors as well as the road in front of you and the speed limit. You are so obsessed with going the speed limit, and it’s really not the only thing that matters.

Please be careful. The park police in DC are horrible. I have never been treated so rudely during a traffic stop (outside of a park!) for an expired tag as I have by the park police. Truly breathtaking. My friend’s husband was pulled over and TAKEN INTO CUSTODY for reckless driving based on a car that had reported him driving quickly. The cop hadn’t even seen it. They took his 2 yo son into the station. And then there’s the man they killed for no reason. The park police is terrible. Be careful!

OP is right. You can't have arbitrary speed limits. If 50 mph is too slow, then the gov't needs to change the limit, not punish citizens for obeying it.
