Tryouts in June?

Anonymous
I am sure that most clubs will try to hold "some kind of tryouts" when they can. It probably won't look like what people traditionally have seen as a tryout. That being said, most clubs in the area offered kids spots to stay with their club. I know a few clubs have openly discussed that they thought there would potentially be less movement this year than others because of that. In some cases tryouts won't be necessary as a coach/club might already know the player involved. If you are interested in a club that isn't your own, I would reach out to the club to see what their plans are going forward in relation to new players.

So just when you thought coaches and clubs couldn't stoop any lower....I was told a kid (a 13 yr old) wanted to leave his current team to play for a neighboring team and the coach and staff contacted him and his parents and used past scholarship money that was given to them to guilt him into staying. What the hell is wrong with clubs. If a kid wants to leave, let him leave and wish them well. Now this kid is trapped at this club. He's a good player too. Sucks.

Is this LMVSC or Annandale in VA? They are known to do that...

I don't understand your post. How is he trapped at the club? Did he change his mind and no longer wants to leave because he feels guilty about getting financial aid from the club in prior years and wants to show some loyalty in return? He is free to do whatever he wants. It sounds like two clubs wanted him and reached out to him and he decided to stay, in part because his current club helped him financially.

Not exactly, the player really wants to leave (the parents are indifferent) so they reached out to the other club. Once his current club found out, his current club guilted the player and parents by saying things like how can you leave when we let you play for free and we did this and did that, so they felt compelled to stay....even though they'd most likely be on scholarship on whichever club they moved to. So he is trapped because his parents feel too guilty to let his move even though they are free to do so.

If he and his family don't have the backbone to do what they think is best for them, then he's trapped as a result of that, not the club's decision to try to pressure them to stay.

I dont understand why as a coach you would even want someone on your team that didn't want to be there in the first place. that sounds like horrible team chemistry/morale in the first place.
