Ha. I'm in my mid 50's and I've been the "kid" running errands for my 85 year old mother. |
Because of your post OP, I just went on my FB account and looked. I saw exactly one person who went to see her mother - she threw a bouquet of flowers to her mom and then they sat what looks like 10-15 feet away and spent time together outside. Everyone else stayed apart. |
Your arm must be exhausted from patting yourself on the back. You found an excuse to not visit your parents and grandparents. Yay, you! I'll bet they feel so loved..... |
Not over it. After we dropped off her groceries, my mom stood on her steps and we waved from the car. I don’t know anyone who ate a meal with non-household members. |
I forgot to add... If there’s a spike, we should remember that people were also out and about in the state parks and at Home Depot just because they want to, nothing to do with the holiday. |
We did not. But I definitely saw a lot of folks on FB who visited with extended family. I'm furious that my brother visited my mom. Brother's wife works in an ER. But I can only control my actions, not others'. |
My neighbors did too. Doubt you’re morally superior though. |
We didn’t see my parents or brother (live locally). |
Yep. The excuse was I don't want them to die. |
Me.
Two of my neighbors invited their extended family to their homes. I saw them out of their front porch or their front yard. |
PP and many like her prefer being socially distant as a general way of life. |
On my FB feed, I think 2 out of about 25 people who posted about Mother's Day actually went to see their mothers. One shows a picture of them sitting at opposite ends of a large picnic table (estimated about 6 feet away. So father and mother sat at one end and my friend and her family sat at the other end. In another one they went out to a park and there were two picnic blankets that looked about 10-12 feet apart. My friend did bring food for everyone and had separate bags of takeout for each household. Everyone else posted about distance celebrations like we did.
My family is spread out, LA, Colorado, Houston, Charleston, Orlando and here. We have a family zoom meeting on Saturdays and this week we moved our meeting to Sunday so that we could celebrate Mother's Day together. 5 mothers out of 11 family members. |
We got together outside in a parking lot. |
No, we did not. And I don't know anyone who did. |
You really don’t have a firm grasp on statistics, do you? |
