If any of you have read any other "registered users only" forums like https://www.socalsoccer.com/ you'll know that the signal to noise ratio is quite a bit better there.

Demonstrating enough interest is the first step in getting the attention of the site owners.
If you would be interested in a soccer forum like this with posts only from registered users (no anonymous posts), please respond by posting here. Double points for posting from a registered account!!

They just register under aliases so it's still anonymous.

While this is true, that is exactly the arrangement on the socal forum and there is way less BS on there. Must be creating just enough visibility to deter people.
At least you can identify who the rotten apples are, and on the socal forum, you can even choose to not view those folks posts.

I would just have to log in and out more to continue trolling the crazy parent masses.

^^^ probably a joke but there’s truth in that someone looking to torment a population is more likely to do something like this, making registration something that would increase trolling intensity among some topics.

Make it Facebook authenticated and identified and watch how polite and civil these forums become in comparison. There will still be some who smear clubs, but at least you can validate their affiliations. With anon or “registered” anon there’s no way to validate anything anyone says here

The hassle of creating new user names all the time to give the appearance of being different people will get old fast for troublemakers. And for those who choose to post all of their hate under one or two usernames, they would quickly become identifiable as people not worth reading/responding to, so the rest of us could ignore them.

It definitely would cut down on traffic here dramatically, but if the majority of what gets posted turns toxic and unreadable, is that really much of a loss?

Two sides to every story.

Every time I make a constructive criticism or I input a personal feeling I have towards a clubs then I am automatically a troll. It almost feels like people here have no freedom to voice a opinion or tell you how they had a experience at another club because you might have die hard fans who are ready to troll themselves.

Would you post exactly the same content if you were real world identifiable? If not, why? When I post about clubs or coaches, I try to stick to the facts and my impressions. I would feel comfortable with those opinions if i had to log in with Facebook. I have a sense many posters here wouldn’t have the same level of comfort, and that’s precisely the issue here.

The content management system likely doesn’t support FB integration and I never use the Facebook authentication. I just don’t trust how FB uses it.

Again, Jeff would likely have to get a new CMS to support what everyone wants. Considering the size of the site such a migration would be difficult just to support once small corner of the site. You all have good intentions but the practicality is not worth it for a small outpost board on a huge site.

I believe this message board is a rather dated version of JForum, and integration with things like Facebook or even more modern messageboard systems would be complicated to say the least.

Gossip is a reason for forums like this there doesn't have to be facts to everything

Maybe someone knows a club might go under and tell people to prepare themselves look at all the GOSSIP about the end of DA and how everyone said where are the facts and people like you wouldn't have allowed it

One advantage to registered users here is that all your posts are attributed to you and anyone can see what you've posted and where. So unless you're going to start a new account every time (and I'm guessing Jeff would see the IP address patterns), all your posts under each account will be perpetually tied to that account.

So you wouldn’t feel comfortable posting “gossip” in your name. Got it.

My vote is for Facebook identity or fully anon then. There’s little benefit to registering if gossips trying to get a faceless points across will go through whatever lengths possible to do it while people who are thoughtful and post relevant, factual information won’t bother going to half that length. There’s a reason why complaints and griping are over represented on anon forums (registered anon or not). Some people are merciless and relentless. I don’t think their voices should be magnified here, where the noise tends to drown them out now.

Ok so people who gossip are NOT thoughtful and DO NOT post relevance got it!

I love people like you as if you had never gossiped before and therefore a better person for it who knows who YOU really are. Why haven't you started the trend? Why are you still posting without a name? Im glad I live in America you sound like you belong in China or better yet North Korea where
people are monitored I speak for everyone when they are happy to be American

I’ve got a solution! How about people stop posting BS and we keep things anonymous? Is that too much to ask? No more “X league/team is folding LOL” drip, drip, drip.... if you think you have credible information, post it all with the first post, with sources. no need for weeks of cuts and bloodletting. No more club propaganda and advertising. No more singling out little kids or their parents for abuse, because you are jealous.

Basically, act like the adult you supposedly are.

I would never support FB-authenticated posting. We love our current coach/club but a year ago when my kid was deciding to switch, it was useful in our decision-making to get validation from other unhappy parents from our team/club. We were all posting about a bad situation with enough detail so we knew others knew the team well enough to comment. Coach was vindictive. Some players were staying. This is common in travel soccer, boys & girls clubs both. I'm not a gossip - I needed to process the situation & decide what to do. Not a troll, not nasty, just needed to help my child figure out options. I valued the anonymous advice/commiseration.

Question, if all you were looking for was validation from your team/club, why didn’t you have that conversation in person? Seems you’d be able to tell by what was going on all year what the impressions are without going to post publicly about it on an anonymous forum. I know I have been without that. I think posting here is more about pouting and griping publicly to smear the coach and club.
