Make a list and pick up as much of what you can while you are there. Pick up extra snacks and dry goods. Green bananas (we are three days away from being out of fruit and probably heading to the store), fruit, and whatever meat you might need. Think coffee, soft drinks, milk.
I am not saying hoard anything but pick up a bit extra so that you have some breathing room for the next time you need to go out. Check if you need toothpaste, shampoo, soap, all that type of stuff. Think about some small toys, crafty things that might be needed or make your kids happy. Think about Easter in a few weeks. Knock out as much as you can so you can stay home for another week or two. Then go and get what you need. When you get home you can wipe down everything with disinfectant or leave what you can in the garage for 24-48 hours. Wash your hands and you are good to go. |
I wouldn’t wear the safety goggles though. |
Eyes are an opening for the virus. I'm not saying that you have to wear goggles. But I'm also not saying wear a mask, either. |
My target is also wiping down carts and everything at the checkout line between customers. |
Wear a mask as a sign of respect and empathy for others. Whether it has any impact on reducing what you breathe in is debatable, but it has been shown, over and over again, to reduce what you breathe out and can help limit the spread. Others, especially the elderly, will be thankful for your respecting their health.
As for the other bits, be sure to really use the time out as a chance to stock up. If there is a Walmart with groceries nearby you might consider that. Second the suggestions to go early. |
We're all going to have to go out to the store at some point for necessities, so you're totally fine to do that. Get as much as you can in your one trip. Lysol before you bring in the house or leave in garage for 3 days. |
+1. People are so paranoid sometimes... |
I'm 25 weeks pregnant and asked my doctor about shopping online vs. curbside vs. going in to the store at my last appointment. She said its whatever you are comfortable with but shop as infrequently as possible with whatever message you choose.
Just go, take a list of anything else you may need in the next 2 weeks, touch as little as possible and wash your hands when you get home, and then sanitize your door knob. I don't worry about wiping down boxes but you do you |
We are. Others I’ve spoke to are as well. We don’t feel like it effects our cool factor. Judge not. |
Aaaaand this is why adults are being told to stay home. Lack of concern. |
I went to Target yesterday. I wore a mask and gloves. I was one of the few shoppers so attired. If I were you, I'd wear a mask and gloves. The NYT and WaPo are reporting that masks may be helpful. When in doubt, wear a mask. It certainly can't hurt. If you have to leave, you have to leave. Carry hand sanitizer in your pocket, and sanitize your hands or gloves before touching your car. This is so crazy, but you need to take slight risks. Going shopping and keeping 6 feet away from everyone is fairly low risk. The real risk appears to be from people you live with or are in close contact with who are asymptomatic. They may well be infecting you or you may be infecting them if you're positive and don't know it. They had wipes and diapers at my Target yesterday. |
I am washing hands frequently, but I am not wiping down all my groceries. The virus doesn't live long on surfaces, and I won't be using most foods for at least 3 or 4 days. Don't act crazy, but if it makes you feel better, wipe down everything. You're better off washing your hands. |
No, just don't be stupid! Be careful while shopping, but if you need to shop, go out and do it as quickly and infrequently as possible. I ran out of something that I absolutely needed, so went out yesterday but took precautions. The risk is low from shopping while keeping a distance from other people. |
I find that even things I don’t use right away, get touched and moved while looking for other ingredients. Keep that behavior in mind when unpacking if not sanitizing. It’s the casual things we do (like touching our face in public) that we lose track of. |
Good lord. Just go.. Get what your need. Wash your hands with hand sanitizer , drive home, get out of your car, carry diapers into house and spray box with lysol. Wash your hands with warm, sospy water. Mission accomplished.
Everyone ,in this world was given common sense. Use yours! |
