I absolutely HAVE to go to Target tomorrow for diapers

1) what time do you think I should go to avoid crowds?
2) should I wear gloves and makeshift mask?
3) am I crazy to leave the house?

Thanks!

Is this seriously a question? You don't think the rest of us are shopping for essentials as well? Just go shopping. If you're really freaked out wear gloves and a homemade mask.

Are most people really doing this?

Im not doing this, but still being extra safe. I would just open the plastic outer wrap and dump the actual diapers out when you get home. Then throw wrapping away and wash hands. I did this for box of chips we bought. I think it would be fine after a few hours (or overnight like I left the rest of the non perishables I didn’t need immediately) but it Did made me feel safer.

A sane response.

+1. I'm still picking up distance learning packets at my kids' schools, grocery shopping at Whole Foods, etc. I make sure I don't touch my face while I'm out, minimize the amount of stuff I touch, and wash my hands when I get home.

Why wouldn’t you do curbside pickup?

If OP has an infant son, she’s probably not elderly.

I think they meant not to go them to preserve that time for the elderly.

It will be fine. I got diapers at the Target in Burke/Fairfax 2 weeks ago. The store was not crowded and they had a lot of diapers in stock, although none were available for curbside pickup or delivery. Just go, get what you need, be efficient, and wash hands really well when you get home.

What brand are they and so perhaps we can suggest alternate places?

Honestly, I find it better shopping late in the day. The most frantic folks are out in the early am, and then it quiets down.

Most stores I have been to over the past few weeks (grocery and Target) are constantly restocking as the trucks arrive. And Target has constant reminders and line markers to keep your distance.

Personally, I've stopped going early. I used to be one of the first people at WF when they opened as it was the least crowded time. Now? No one is working and everyone is freaked out. They open an hour early for the immune compromised - which is good - but there is a line at the door for normal opening. People who work there told me to come in the afternoon. Check out the Google maps busy graph.

I don't know about Target but some places have stopped curbside pick up or else it's impossible to get an opening.
