When will the 4th Quarter end

School district will be allowed to petition for a waiver of up to 5 days.

The continuity of learning that started on 3/30 counts towards the 180 day requirement.

I think this means that the school year could end on time or very close.

Original calendar was based on 182 days. Only 1 snow day was used. So there is 1 extra day left.

School was closed for two weeks (3/16-3/27) - 10 days missed.

Made up 3 days by using spring break days (4/6-4/9).

This only leaves 6 days to make-up.

If they get a waiver for 5 days and another waiver to have school on the scheduled MD primary day. All 6 days will have been made or waived.

As we know the state is usually not fond of giving waivers to MCPS so who knows but school should end by late June at the latest.

Looks like this is the plan just announced. School ends 6/15 as originally planned.

Pardon my confusion, but why on Earth would we not use the 4 MAKEUP DAYS that are available in June??? I mean, do they seriously think our kids will learn enough by June 15?

Newsflash! With the new grading system, your kids don’t have to learn anything. They don’t even have to turn in work because it is a no penalty system.

All you lost was 4 days of free babysitting. Too bad you can’t go to Disney.

Oh, ha, this is no free babysitting! 2 hours max of zoom/work a day? Such a joke.

No one mentioned that the last day will be June 15

"We are planning on using April 28 as an instructional day given that primary Election Day has been moved to June and will now be in a vote-by-mail format. The last day of school will be June 15, 2020."

I would say the 4th quarter ended today, with the announcement of no actual grades. How many students will actually do anything but the minimum to get credit?
