Is DCPS going virtual?

The schools are supposed to send an email out today. DCPS policy though seems to be no tech which is unfortunate for the kids. And an anomaly compared with other school districts.

It’s no tech because of equity considerations. Such backward thinking, but par for the course.

There are dozens of websites and free learning programs you can use to help your students. Heck, if you are inbound you could just withdraw and start a real home school program.
Dcps should be offering both paper and tech.

This type of thinking and embracement of equity at all cost is why DCPS will never succeed to attract higher performing students and they leave for charters, burbs, or privates.

This unveiled threat by middle class whites to leave DC is getting trite. Bye already?

Our school is planning to use Microsoft teams to have live teaching.

Deal will be having two 30-min live sessions a day staggered schedule. Sessions to be recorded for students who can’t watch live. They are trying to get chrome books out to every student that needs one. They are also trying to still have some after school clubs meet virtually. I’m so impressed with what they’ve done so far. Hoping for even more clarity on some things tomorrow.

How are they recording? What platform are they using?

Actually, isn't it "equity at no cost." Rather than providing devices or whatever because of the cost, they are providing none... for equity considerations.

Hate to burst your bubble but many are not leaving DC. They are going charter which BTW ours has already lesson plans set up, virtual meetings with teachers, etc..

Also it’s not middle class whites and not about racism. So stop playing that card. It’s just getting old.
