WIS is making teachers come in for two workdays

What is their rationale?

None provided. And the order to come in has come directly from HOS of WIS despite many colleagues raising concerns. I haven’t spoken up but I know more than ten people have. I love the parents of WIS but they only see one side of her. I know parents would support staff safety but if the HOS doesn’t know that, it doesn’t really matter at the end of the day.

I have decided to go in and just leave as quickly as possible. It’s a rational decision for me with bad effects for society, but it’s the way I have squared the circle. Wish me luck!

Are there no WIS parents on this board? Are you calling the school? The only other school (system) calling teachers in today is DCPS (stupidly) ... think about that!

Maybe in this area, but elsewhere, teachers are coming in to prepare for distance learning. Honestly, it sucks, but if it is quick and people are careful, it is probably fine as long as it is only a couple days.

Who have presumably been at the school since January (or maybe a little later, I know our students from China were quarantined for the first two weeks of school and joined us late) so they are no more risk than students from anywhere else.

Yes, no shit. This is about the fact that these students cannot go home and thus need people to care for them.

I am at a DC private and we (staff) went in today.

Had the school been scrubbed down thoroughly since the kids had left and did you practice social distancing?

No to your first question. I did my best for the second.

That was about somewhere else - WIS doesn’t board students.

Same. This sounds like a (literally) toxic culture.

I thought lots of teachers went in to get distance learning up and hold telephonic parent teacher conferences. At our school.

Same here. School had been deep cleaned already.

Not surprised at all I bet that “funny email” was sent by the associate head of school who also made light of the post article that accused WIS of cultural insensitivity. If you were not horrified by last years closing assembly for staff then this should be not a surprised. The school administration is the worse I have ever experienced

Schools should be scrubbing down. After that, if any staff go in on a regular basis to access materials, plan etc, they should continue to have a cleaning plan.

I’m a teacher as well. We are off right now and DLing. My DH is in the medical field and I know He’s probably been exposed which puts me in a position of being exposed. I would stay home if I were you bc U have no idea who has been exposed. It’s serious out there. Pls be safe.
