There is the US Soccer pyramid to train & identify talent to their preference for success they define. The leagues is part of the process, but you don't want to play by their rules. |
Why shouldn't US soccer want the kids they invest in to play in their DA program? If there is a local DA available, kids who want to play for a YNT should be playing there. If one isn't close, then its a different story. And to the poster saying they are only looking for big, strong and fast players, the two most recent players to get YNT call ups from FCV and Richmond aren't big at all. They are small, quick technical players, so you can save that narrative. |
Good people....this discussion is losing touch with reality. From my understanding, In all of Virginia, 1 2004 was called into a YNT camp (ECNL) In all of Virginia, 1 2005 was called into a YNT camp (DA) There has been 100's of 2004/2005 that have gone to various NTC's. The odds of your kid getting called into a YNT camp is virtually zero. Everything else is propaganda for recruiting. |

Ntc - US Soccer
Id2/pdp - us club soccer Odp - us youth soccer There are no ecnl ntc’s. The scout for the area has a conflict of interest? Get in her carpool. Richmond 05 had a player at ynt camp. Richmond 04 had 2. FCV 04 had 1 but she is 05. It’s politics. Get used to it. |
ECNL calls them National Training Camp, and believe it or not, I've run into several parents and players (ECNL) who think they are being called up by US Soccer and don't realize what they are actually being invited to. I don't think it's an accident they call it that or that it's creating confusion. And it definitely started post-DA start. |
Don't they have a USYNT scout at the ECNL invite in Portland. |
| All I can say is, this system is way to confusing, I hope someone knows what the f they are doing besides trying to make money. |
|
Its confusing for parents of younger players.
Let me simplify The USSF (US Soccer) runs the US Youth National Teams They are responsible for scouting the USA for players to roster on these teams. The scouting is done by a wide range of people who make recommendations. Most of the scouts are also youth coaches. The local kids who get recommended (mostly by club coaches/staff) go to local "NTC's". These NTC are local centers that are taking place on a National level (Throughout America). So, every year, thousand of kids go to local NTC's were they are pooled together and seen by scouts. Of those 1000 of kids nationally being seen, about 20 or so are called (picked) into a real Youth National team camp where the best players compete for roster spots on a Youth National Team. The chance of getting called into in a camp is 1 percent. The NTC's are only for U15 and below |

In all of Virginia, 1 2005 was called into a full YNT camp (DA) |
It’s an ecnl camp. Clearly stated in the package and emails that comes to the players. Take your nonsense elsewhere. |
It's more like 180 kids are initially called from the 600-1000 at the NTCs. These 180 are called into regional mini-camps. 60 kids each for the West, Central and East camps. If you make it to this level, the regional mini camps lists are published on www.ussoccer.com and college coaches come calling. From this 180 it then gets narrowed down to 60 for the national camp and then ultimately 20 are selected for the YNT. |
For the sake of accuracy, two 2004s, but one was not invited back after attending a single full YNT camp. |
It can be very confusing to parents and players who don't realize that the National Training Camp is not being run by US Soccer. That's not nonsense. That's based on facts on the ground. Take your snarky dismissals somewhere else. |
| Your kid is not making the YNT or the SNT. I have a 99.9% chance of being correct. |
