PK3 should be fully funded in boundary

That doesn't change that we absolutely do have universal PreK3.

Because we want universal programs, and because those rich kids are paying taxes too.

Conservatives want to means-test government services (stop rich kids from using them) because they know that programs for the less-well-off are easily cut.

Universal, free, PK is good for everyone in DC. Rich, poor, white, black — everyone should get free PK. It’s unifying for the city.
The people pushing to cut PK for rich kids are conservatives that want to cut PK for everyone so they personally can pay lower taxes.

All of this. Plus, also, we can afford it. We are actively *choosing* not to provide universal PreK3.

WTF are you talking about? We do provide universal PreK3. It is available to every DC resident.

"Why can't we have it in the most convenient place for MEEEEEE?" Give me a break.

that is your problem

Because commuting from the farthest reaches of an upper NW home to a SE school to NoVA for work and back again leaves you with 4 hours on the office and four hours in traffic per day.

Three thoughts:

1. I’m not opposed to universally expanding public services because some rich kid may also benefit from the expansion of public services.

2. The rich kid has a nanny and then is off to Beauvoir.

3. Under the current system, rich kids, regardless of living WOTP or EOTP, can get fully funded daycare starting at 3.

Agree 100%.

Also, every year there are PK3 seats that go empty in the city. There are seats, just not where OP wants them. Commute is a real issue, but aside from that, DCPS/DCPCS do ECE exceptionally well across the board.

You are free to move to a part of DC that is closer to both NoVA and schools with open PK seats. There are many. If you can afford to live in "the farthest reaches of an upper NW home" then you can afford it. You could even rent out your NW house and rent a place in SE for two years if you really wanted to.
