| What percentage of Kennedy’s IB students will be test-in? Rmib has always accepted local students as well. |
I think all of the students in the freshmen starting this coming year will be test-in? I saw a slide deck somewhere... |
So they will re distribute the school's after 1 year. Seems unlikely. |
I thought about that too! I also heard an admin clearly state that the RMIB program would not continue as a countrywide program but it wasn't clear when this would happen and how. |
| I think this year's class will be the last of the long distance commuters? They will continue through senior year |
| Students will stay where they are, but as of this year, JFK is a competitive, application based program. Next year DCC students can only apply there for IB, not RMIB. They left RMIB this year only as countywide while JFK became the regional competitive IB so there is overlap only this year. It makes JFK worth seriously considering this year, as it is becoming the DCC version of RMIB. Totally different than the prior version of IB there as new resources are brought in! |
| So which schools will be in RMs region? It is a much higher income school then the others. |
Maybe RM will be local only like BCC That would really help with over crowding there. |
Crown HS will help with the overcrowding there. If they don't make it regional, there would be no regional IB center in the western part of the county without RM. I don't know how they are going to redraw the boundaries for IB, though because currently the rest of the HS (Churchill, Wootton, WJ, QO, NWS, etc..) are all assigned to the current regional IBs. They'd have to redraw the boundary for RM regional. I guess they would grandfather the current IB regional kids to attend the current zone, and the incoming class the following year would go to to RM based on the new regional boundary? Such a mess. |
Well, based on Kennedy’s AP scores, I wouldn’t hold my breath on the recognition of your DC’s IB scores. |
Oh my. Do you know anything about IB at all??? At the very least visit the IBO website. You're already sitting at a computer. |
That is why I am doubting it will be regional. It is over crowded and too high performing. They will not want to pull Wooton kids i.e. from abother regional center. |
If they are reading DCUM and following this thread then they know exactly what an IB program is, what the standards are, and just how well recognized/valuable that diploma is. Any student from anywhere on the planet that earns 6s or 7s on an HL IB exam will be recognized as a high achiever... |
There is not a regional center there now. Those schools are all assigned to other centers. I doubt they will pull the W schools into a center at RM. It would defeat the whole purpose of this whole change. |
Yes, this is a really game changer and makes the consideration of JFK and entirely different one than in years past! |
