Briar or Darcy for a girl?

Darcy is lovely. Briar sounds like an 80’s Name.

Briar, that's pretty harsh.

That's a fat girl's name, anyway.

Thanks Bender

I cringed real hard when I saw this subject line. No thanks on both of those choices.

It is a name. It means "a thorny patch", and was the original name of Sleeping Beauty - Briar Rose.

People my age (47) and older will associate it with different fictional characters.

And OP, I don't think you want your daughter to be associated with Briar Rabbit and Briar Fox - unless you're posting this from Klan HQ.

This is in addition, of course, to Brian (i) being too close to Blair, and (ii) sounding outright stupid all on its own.

That’s Brer Rabbit and Brer Fox. Briar is a dumb name but not for this reason.

51 and I went right to Uncle Remus...Pleeese don't throw me in the briar patch! I promise I am not racist but my uncle read us the stories growing up and we loved Brer Rabbit and Brer Bear!
I don't honestly like Darcy but would always choose it over Briar.

I think Briar is too close to Blair. What about other nature inspired names like Willow or Bryony. Willow being a popular one from my prep school.

I like them both OP. Just no more Clementines, Logans, Amalie, Vivians and Charlottes....Thing is-once you name her-it will be perfection

Blair and Briar?! No way. It sounds like you gave your kids the same name. They’re so similar the girls are going to get confused all the time.

Darcy Blair sounds ok.
Briar Blair sounds strange, like Briar Blair Jones, for example.
