Are halo rings really considered tacky?

Anonymous
I have a single emerald-shaped diamond set in platinum.

I don’t even know what a halo ring is.

I have a halo set ring and love it. I’ve never really thought about what other people thought about it. Just get a ring you love and not worry about other people’s opinions.

I have one although the main stone is set above the halo. I think it's beautiful.

Been wearing it for 5 years.

Worst ring I have ever seen.

Honestly, PP, what is wrong with you??

You’re super weird. [/quote

Yes, super weird, but actually a very legit (albeit a very old fashioned) set of norms.

I agree with this. I know many people wear diamond rings every day but I think there is something ostentatious about it. Simple gold band for me.

Welp that ring is certainly an acquired taste. At least you won’t have to worry about other people having the same ring as you!

RGR PP - I hope you love your ring as much as I love mine, at the end of the day, that's all that matters!

Oh stop. PP your ring is beautiful and you are right about the rose gold and diamonds looking lovely together.

Thanks!

Eh, who cares. My ring is a solitaire with side baguettes, which was popular at the time. I don’t view my ring as dated - I’ve been married 16 years and I’m proud of that!

They are clunky looking and not ‘clean’. I like a more streamlined look. Single solitaire.
I wouldn’t say tacky but sort of dated.

Halo engagement rings are the push-up bras of bridal jewelry.

I don’t even know what a halo ring is.

Thank you for this very helpful contribution.

I have one and they are not my style. DH was so proud of himself for picking it that I never had the heart to replace it. I also don’t wear rings in my daily life due to my occupation, so it’s not in front of my face every day.

I don’t have one and wish I did. I have a 2 carat round and absolutely hate it. You can’t get more boring.
