This is not insignificant and a good question for anybody considering committing to 3 practices a week (or 6 with two kids)...

Not having to leave work early 3 days a week because your practice is an hour closer at rush hour is a factor for many...

Unfortunately it sounds like it varies so you just have to roll the dice...

Yes, Arlington is a county. So again if certain locations are an issue then frankly the club may just not be a great option. This is just facts and common sense and not based on being snarky.

That's not your decision to make, and frankly, your pushing it this way is odd. It is normal to want location information. It is not normal to say they don't need it.

Not pushing anything. I don’t care where the kid goes. It just seems obvious that if there is a concern about where the practice fields are located that there are significant issues with the general location of the club. The fact that there are many, many options should serve some reassurance that Arlington may not be worth it for them.

That isn’t being negative, just honest.

And from what people have said, practice locations do vary. So that’s just that.

It is a little telling about the nature of NOVA travel soccer that nobody is really throwing ride-sharing or public transportation as a way to resolve some of the logistical challenges associated with four weekly DA practices. Generally, I agree that if your kid is a really serious soccer talent, you will or should find a way to overcome the logistical challenges. If the logistical challenges are that big a deal to you, then be honest and tell your kid that the hassle is not worth it. If he cares that much, he can learn bus and metro routes. Kids do it in and out of the district and all over NOVA every day. Or figure out a carpool schedule with parents relatively nearby.

I don't think anyone asked your opinion about whether or not it was a factor in decision making. So your honesty is misplaced. They asked where the practices are. End of story.

And they can stand up for themselves. It is a forum. Frankly at least I’m talking about the actual question while you’re just trolling.

No one joins any club, DA or otherwise without checking out the practice fields. That anyone here is suggesting they should is ridiculous.

Umm, they do sort of. We've been on two different DAs and had no idea of the practice schedule & location until the season is about to start. They can give us a general idea, but the specifics can (and do) change throughout the season.

Seems like OP was just asking what is the schedule THIS year....? Then they can make their own decisions based on that info, knowing it may change, but at least gives a frame of reference. Most clubs overall that we've been with haven't known exact practice details pre-offer time. But they have been able to say "we typically practice at A B or C fields" or "the U12s usually practice at 5 or 6:30"....

Merry Christmas. Arlington is a county. Get it. So is Fairfax, so is Prince William, so is Loudoun. Just because you are rich and have nothing to do with your time other than drive your kids to soccer, doesn't mean other people are as lucky. Why are people making such a big thing about someone asking where a club typically practices -- they are just asking for information that might help them with their kid. Of all the things to get petty about...

Because it is literally in the name. It might be more helpful if they listed areas of Arlington that are just not doable. But again, stay upset about it.

And they were provided that answer.

Also totally normal for people to say that you will not know until you sign up.

Also totally normal to suggest that if you believe it might be a problem to consider other clubs as well. This isn’t an attack. Yes carpools are options but if you can’t reciprocate then you are likely not a welcome addition to a carpool.

But now that it is known that multiple fields and locations are in play figure out the ones that are an absolute no go.

Stay triggered.

Yep, knowing those fields made me realize Arlington is a solid option for our DC. Very helpful.

Excellent! I appreciate the people who shared field locations. It's great when a question can be answered.
