That's helpful. Roughly how early for the youngest age groups? DD is rising U14. I assume the 17s go later since they all likely drive, but others are earlier?

Shouldn’t you worry first about making the before you worry about exact practice locations?

Maybe they have already been offered a spot. Heard Arlington was recruiting hard.

Then why ask here when they can ask the coach who recruited them?

Unnecessarily snarky. Doesn't anyone playing DA have two working parents? there IS a difference between getting to Crystal City vs. Yorktown area at rush hour.

Everyone sacrifices at this level. You will be leaving work early 4 days per week to get your kid to practice. They will be missing 3 days of school several times a year for showcases. You will be driving to NY or Philly for a 90 minute game several times during fall and again in spring. You up for that? DA is just about college level soccer in terms of commitment. Where the tryouts happen is just the top of the iceberg.

+1. Some families have single parents. It's not wrong to find the best logistics for one's kids. And some situations may be untenable based on location, traffic patterns, and time of practices.

If you have to ask then that club is just not for you. There are certainly clubs off our list regardless of their optimal field location even though it could be reached. There are just simply other similar options available that are closer.

Combing middle school kickball fields across NoVa I am sure.

Incorrect. Asking is how one determines if it's right or not.

The club is based in Arlington. Practices will be in Arlington. You should expect any and all Arlington locations to be available for practice. They are not a club that is hyper localities like Vienna, CYA, McLean etc.

The difference between practicing in N arl vs S arl can be an 45 mins to an hour based on where you are coming from in rush hour

This is not insignificant and a good question for anybody considering committing to 3 practices a week (or 6 with two kids)...

Not having to leave work early 3 days a week because your practice is an hour closer at rush hour is a factor for many...

Unfortunately it sounds like it varies so you just have to roll the dice...

Yes, Arlington is a county. So again if certain locations are an issue then frankly the club may just not be a great option. This is just facts and common sense and not based on being snarky.

The snarky part was implying that the player might not be DA/ECNL quality because the parent is asking the questions. As this forum always points out, this area is diluted. There are a lot of options around -- knowing where practices are may mean Arlington is a better option than McLean or not, just like BRYC may be a better option for some than VDA. Same as the FCV people wonder whether they will continue in Loudoun at the younger agest in the future, etc. Why is asking what typically happens somehow an indicator that someone is not dedicated enough? My DS plays DA. We've made the commitment, the sacrifices in time and $$ and missing out on things with friends, etc. Now with my second child, if I knew then what I know now I would have asked the questions. Why belittle someone for wanting to consider options with as much info as possible.

The real message is that there are many options and if the field locations in Arlington are a concern then Arlington may just not be a real option.

That's not your decision to make, and frankly, your pushing it this way is odd. It is normal to want location information. It is not normal to say they don't need it.

Practices are 4 times a week, and as stated earlier, they can be all over. Most of the younger players have the 5:00 time slot.

No one joins any club, DA or otherwise without checking out the practice fields. That anyone here is suggesting they should is ridiculous.
