We now have the technology. |
I'm going to need to install cameras in your bathroom, just to make sure you're not doing anything illegal in there. If you're not doing anything wrong, you've got nothing to fear. |
This is a natural outcome of electing a single party to run the county. A dearth of ideas, and no ideological checks and balances to prevent it from spinning into a Orwellian state. Sick of dems acting like a nanny state? Then vote for another party. Otherwise, you deserve the Montgomery county govt as far up your butt as they can manage. |
Bingo. Why are cops exempt from the law against phone use while driving? If it was unsafe, police wouldn't be doing it either. And if it IS unsafe, why do we allow cops to do it? |
I have $5,000 cash that says I'm a better driver with a cel phone in hand than you are driving drunk. We can test this. We can know this answer for certain. Closed course, private property. Legal waivers. Under supervision. We will both drive an identical car around an identical course, with identical surprise challenges. I'll talk on the phone with the phone held to my ear for two laps, and do two more laps while texting short responses to one sentence texts. You will drive with a blood alcohol level of .12, the statistical average level of all DUI crashes. I put up $5,000 cash. You put up $5,000 cash. Then we see who's right. Whaddya say? |
Have you tried Xanax? |
LOL - everyone is an above average driver! Just follow the damn law and everyone, including you, will be safer. |
? Police officers speed, too. Are you now going to say that it's not unsafe to speed, on grounds that police officers speed? |
| In Maryland, it is lawful to have the phone in hand to dial a number or when used as a GPS. It also is lawful to make certain calls an send certain texts (911 calls for example). Hence, a photograph showing an individual merely holding a cell phone while driving would not be proof of any offense. |
There must be a whole lot of people calling 911 constantly, then. |
| Sounds like a great way to cover the county budget shortfall. After all, people are breaking the laws, we should get their money! |
People like you driving in the real world are why there are so many injuries and deaths on the roads. You are so convinced that you’re great that when you do screw up you’ll blame it on everyone else. Do us a favor and stay on a closed course. Leave our public streets for people who can figure out how to drive safely and understand that laws apply to everyone. |
| Agree with OP. And don't fool yourselves into thinking this is about safety. It's about collecting revenue. DUI revenue, I mean arrests must be slow this year. |
I'm fine with collecting revenue from people who are on their phones while driving. If you don't want to pay, there's an easy way to avoid it: stay off your phone while driving. |
I am a liberal Democrat and agree with OP as well. |
