The Crown, Season 3

Totally agree - same for Tobias Menzies - Prince Philip's blue eyes are his signature look

They tried blue contacts with Olivia but she wasn’t able to do it. So they just stuck with her regular color. I don’t find it that tough to move past.

I can fell sympathy for Charles but I hope that the Crown Season 4 doesn't gloss over how terrible he was to Diana.

There was a commotion from behind. I turned as a group of men in tuxedoes rushed towards us. Two of them shouldered me aside, while an angry little man, who was shouting, stomped heavily on Sarah’s foot. Sarah yelled out in pain. I turned, jabbing my finger at the little man whose bald head was at my eye height and yelled out, ‘Oy! Listen mate! You just trod on my wife’s foot! Say sorry!’ But he wasn’t listening. He was yelling at his own wife, the Princess of Wales. ‘How dare you embarrass me like this?’ Prince Charles thundered at Diana. ‘This is the last time this happens! Get back upstairs. Now!’

I have found it hard to get used to; the eye color change. It doesn't matter what color the real people have, but making the switch from the first season's actresses, and the child actresses, with bright blue eyes and this season's brown-eyed actresses has been hard.

I think it's because the actresses have such big and beautiful blue OR brown eyes, so distinctive, that it's hard for me to get past that detail. And the kid actor's blue eyes are very striking as well. So the hardest part for me (so far) was when, in this season, they flip between the kid actors and the adult actors as playing the same sisters.

For anyone interested in learning more about Aberfan, this BBC piece is excellent. Lots of detail and photos. Very much worth reading.

+1 it’s a stark change

I love Olivia but in some scenes she overdid it. 90% was amazing though.

And Helena was also too hard and not vulnerable enough.

LOVED Tobias. And Anne is so fun.

Great season.

I didn't even notice the eyes. I DID notice that some of the outfits didn't align exactly and that bothered me (Margaret at the White House, the Japanese empress' dress)

Anne (the actress who is playing her) steals the show. Also strong resemblance with Anne/Phillip.

Yes, I noticed last night how amazing Anne is!

Just finished the episode where Charles goes to Wales. So intense; so painful.

It's amazing to me; that was 1969, and Charles is STILL not king...he's 71 now; still waiting.

I've lived through the whole Lady Diana, then Princess Diana, era and have nothing bad to say about her. But unlike many of the (American) populace, I never hated Camilla. It truly was such a love story, and proves that love can transcend youth and beauty.

The pressure to conform; the stripping away of basic things that could make one happy--like having a voice, having the freedom to choose your own mate--to see how while Charles has so much, he doesn't have what you and I have. In this episode, which had nothing to do with romance, you can see the set-up for the later drama of Diana and Camilla.

The Queen took the throne at age 26 and by then had already had Charles for a few years.

I don't think in 69 he deserved to be King at 21 and he didn't get married until the 80s when he was 33. Not to put too fine a point on it, but what was he waiting for...very reminiscent of his Uncle King Edward in that regard.

I have to wonder if his being unmarried with no heirs also contributed to not ascending quicker (even though QEII dedicated her life to being a monarch).

Not to be too crass about it but Americans are the ones who threw produce at Camilla in the grocery lanes...
