And yet these guys were given the opportunity for freedom today with one million dollars bail each. Aren’t these people the definition of flight risk? |

I find "The Daily" Podcast (free) from the New York Times helpful when I can't follow a story line. This particular mess hasn't been covered yet, but it probably will come out today or tomorrow. And it's about 20 minutes!

40% of the public support any and all Republican corruption, conspiracy, and self-dealing because they have been conned into believing that they will benefit from their patronage. They don’t get that the self-dealing demagogues think of them as fools who are easily manipulated by appeals to race and religion to give them unconditional support. This part is not new or original to Trump. He is just another in a long history of populist demagogues who manipulate the people they claim to represent but are only in it for themselves and their close conspirators. |
Any bail will involve ankle bracelets and surrender of passports. |
they arrested the Parnas and pal because they were fleeing the country. Giuliani is such a fountain of voluntary criminal statements that no prosecutorr in his right mind would arrest him yet. Trump they can’t arrest, but he is also building the case against himself every day he wakes up a free man. In the preceeding couple weeks, Barr, Pence, Pompeo people at OPM and others have become implicated. DoJ and state level prosecutors will continue to give these clowns rope to hang themselves. As Pelosi predicted, “Trump will impeach himself.” BTW, I prefict that when Giuliani is finally arrested, his lawyers will have him examined by a psychiatrist and they will claim he has some form of early dementia. |
Same with Trump. |

Just about to post what PP said.
Conway's huge essay is a big out for any Trump prosecution. Also, no matter how much we may disdain US President, do we really want him indicted with a crime? No. For history's sake we probably don't. |
And it could very well be true. Just because these people are amoral and corrupt, it doesn't mean they can't have dementia on top of it all
|
This. 30% are authoritarian, and they will not budge. |
Narcissism is not insanity (or at least not legally). |
Yes, we do. Not indicting him doesn’t erase his crimes. His whole life has been a series of crimes and no one deserves prison more than a traitor who was entrusted with the highest office. |
For history's sake we do. History requires that there be a record of justice reinforcing that no one is above the law, especially not public servants in positions of trust like the President. |
So commercial airlines are probably out, but .... |
Yes! Why would you want him shielded from his crimes. No one is above the law. |
You don’t know how ankle bracelets work if you think someone with one can get on a private plane and fly out of the country. |
