DC Metro Ugh

Sure I guess if you happen to be going from Point A directly next to a station to Point B directly next to a station, on the weekend and not surrounding any event that attracts people, not during the summer, it’s fine. Assuming you don’t mind the urine. But it’s far too limited in coverage, breaks between trains are way too long, it shuts down before late events conclude, and rush hour or any other busy period is awful. Sweaty, gross, d&ck to a$$, shoving, pits in your face. All of it such a low form of existence.

Not saying DC is unique among major cities. NY is dirtier but much faster and more coverage. Same with London. Tokyo is cleaner but actually more crowded, though the Japanese make up for it by being small and polite.

Any way you slice it, subways are as bad as it gets. Give me a private driver any time. Or even my own car in traffic if need be.

Is the metro even that crowded in DC? Orange and red aren’t crowded IME.

If OP doesn’t like crowded subway trains, she’s unlikely to be a fan of rats, urine smells, out-of-control youths, and failing schools.

All great points. Minus the out of control youths. I don’t stay up/out late enough for the youth scene.

I’m tired of people farting in my face and pretending they didn’t do anything. Or people fondling my junk.

OP, I live in the city and WALK everywhere. You're just another annoying car trying to run me down in the crosswalk when we already have far too many cars coming into the city every day.

Good for you. I’ve never run anyone over, never even come close. Yes I do lean on the horn on occasion, but only as a safety precaution. If you are crossing against the light I want to make sure that you see me coming and that others who might be tempted to blindly follow you out into the street see me coming too. We all have to share the roads. Too many people fail to look up from their phones while crossing against the light. Walkers are great! I love walkers!

And I love MD/VA drivers who come in, tear up the streets that they don't have to pay for, use our residential neighborhoods as cut throughs that they speed through, park in the bus zone, and completely block the crosswalk with their huge SUVs, causing all the pedestrians trying to cross to walk in the street. It's great.

You just reminded me the rude man farted too. Disgusting! A truly dreadful experience. Ugh.

Troll just took it over the line. As if you'd forget about that in your first tirade, OP.

I ride every day and don’t see any of this.
Yes, people fart. That does happen. Otherwise I don’t know what she’s talking about.

Okayyy. I guess the fart could have come from any number of people around me. Be glad you weren’t there. On another note If something doesn’t jibe with your Personal experience, do you curl up into a little ball, cover your ears/eyes and chant - - it didn’t happen it didn’t happen.

OP sounds like she has never set foot in the DC metro.

Same. Metro commuter for 10 years. It’s a public space, I don’t expect perfection. And let’s not pretend there aren’t plenty of ride, entitled asshole drivers out there.
