Um, because you are also white?

How many people think of Barack Obama as being a white man?

My kids are half Indian half white, but look pure white (blue eyes/brown hair). I still mark them as mixed race bc that’s what they are. And as for the Dravidian poster, I’m a dark Dravidian. Genetics works in mysterious ways.

The world sees President Obama as Black. And he is truly African-American (half African and half American).

I’m 1/4 Asian and look completely white but don’t consider myself Asian. My dad is 1/2 Asian and looks Asian but considers himself white because it’s “better”.

Not the point of the thread but thanks for sharing.

Yes. Of course. If you go to Alabama would this person be considered white? Obviously not.

I don't call myself Indian either.

I am mixed race.

That’s stupid. Mixed race is nothing. You ARE Indian and you ARE also white.

Yeah sure, but you are not white. And that makes you a person of "color."

My kids are half and half, and maybe people would refer to them as POC but I don’t think in those terms. They’re just American. Their ethnicity is mixed. Half Indian and half all the mixed/Europeanish things I have on my side.

My kids are also half and half, and I do think in those terms. They are mixed, but no one would call the Caucasian (i.e. white). The world will see them as having "color" and I have raised them to recognize that.
