NP, and the Gold's Gym I used to frequent has a movie room. I never went in there, but it was a windowless room with only a door. It appeared to be darkish, and yes, loud-- I could sometimes hear the movie when people opened the door. Inside is a selection of workout equipment. |
|
OP, the volume needs to be up loud so everyone can hear. It's supposed to be a cinema-like experience. You're in the wrong-- you admit you're only there for the air conditioning.
You need to decide if listening to the loud movie is worth the cooler environment. What you don't get to do is police people who are actually there to watch a movie while they workout. IT"S THE MOVIE ROOM. |
It's called the "Cinema Room" so the purpose us explicitly clear in the name. Some people may prefer just to be in a dark room where no one can see them work oyt, but that does not negate that the intended purpose is to watch a movie while exercising. OO asked if she was rude or the man was rude and multiple people gave her feedback. Perhaps she wasn't looking for an honest answer but just validation for her actions. That's unfortunate because rude people who get defensive and combative when people give them feedback miss out on the opportunity to reflect and adjust their behavior for the future. |
| So the movie is just playing on a loop and people just come in and out in the middle of the movie.?? |
Yes, or watch the whole movie! They put the schedule up for the whole month, so if it's a movie I really want to see, I will plan it out to get there at the beginning and stay the whole time doing something fairly low intensity like walking on the treadmill. |
PP here - and it's been great for getting my non athletic teenage son to exercise, too. They play a lot of superhero movies at my gym, so he goes in and watches them while using the equipment. |
It's right in the title, you dingbat - the movie room. It's not the cool dark space room. |
But there is a difference between able to hear and so loud it is uncomfortable. The volume does not have to be blaring to hear it. |
Uh it's a gym movie room, not an actual theater. The volume doesn't need to be - and shouldn't actually be as loud as a theater. Moderate volume is more than fine. And since you're at the gym, the primary space is to workout - not to watch an actual movie. |
No, it's first and foremost a gym. The movie feature is secondary. Nice, but it's not an actual theater and the chief purpose is to provide an alternative space to workout in. For some people, they prefer hiding in a darker space. For others, maybe it's cooler. But if you're there to just watch a movie, sorry, you're in the wrong place. You are in A GYM - not a movie theater. |
| A movie room sounds cool. I usually just watch stuff on my iPad (through my earphones). |
Of course the primary purpose is to work out. But the primary purpose in that room is to work out while watching the movie, without headphones, which requires having the volume up so people can hear it over numerous cardio equipment. If you want to work out without high volume movies playing in the background, there are numerous places to do so. This really is pretty simple. I have no idea why you even posted this question, since you are intent on arguing with everyone who disagrees with you. It appears all you wanted in validation. Oops. |
Dude, you are wayyyyy wayyyyy too invested in this topic that isn't even your own. Maybe leave the cinema/film/movie room, and eat a carb or two to calm you down. Because you're being weird. |
| Op. The guy was maybe rude for not asking, but it’s called the movie room. Movies are usually loud. Now you know. But it is clear that you just wanted people to agree with and it appears most posters don’t. |
| Yes it's rude. No question. Since you don't walk in and immediately turn the sound down, which you could do given the logic on here. I would put on some headphones. Comfy ones just to muffle the blare. |
