Infertility Support and Discussion
Widra is pretty good, but overall Shady Grove is just not a pleasant experience. Half the battle will be battling with the staff.
I was really happy with Shady Grove and Dr Widra. Any doctor will be fine if you are an easy case. Unfortunately, I was not an easy case and he spent a lot of time with me discussing protocols and adjusting during a cycle when things didn't go according to plan. My nurse, Liz, was great too. The front desk people all knew me and were super nice as well.
Well, I'm not going to spend time listing the aggravations SG caused me - let's just say that I'm not a high maintenance person and I don't think I was expecting too much, but after going to another clinic that was night and day nicer and better than SG, I don't believe that they should be recommended without a warning that going with them likely means that you are going to have to spend more time and energy advocating for your care, dealing with some staff who really don't care, and dealing with their business office.
I'm really confused? Isn't think the TTC board? what board are people talking about?
Dr. Sacks - good on the first try with ICSI!

"I'm really confused? Isn't think the TTC board? what board are people talking about?"
I think the moderator moved this discussion from the general board to the TTC board. |
poster 11:39 I agree with you about SG, the lists of aggravations I had with them is lengthy. I moved to another practice and got pregnant with minimal treatment and a fraction of what I spent at SG.
Dr. Sacks, Dr. Sacks, Dr. Sacks!!!
Dominion Fertility made it happen for us and everyday when I look at my baby boy I feel so much gratitude to them. We are all lucky to live in an area that has so many good doctors.

Dr. Widra. Smart, no nonsense, and kind. We were a tough case and he didn't give up on us. We have one child and hope to start IVF soon for a second.
By the way, I had a consult with Dr. Sacks and just didn't like his style and personality. Also, the office just didn't look and feel as professional. |
Dr Gordon is the reason I'm up in the middle of the night hoping my DD will fall back to sleep....Good luck to everyone
I saw Dr. Nair at Shady Grove DC and had a wonderful exerience at the office. The nurse I worked with, Jenn, was also fantastic.
Another vote for Dr. Sacks. I have a 4 year old (via IUI) and a 2 year old (via IVF), both of whom were conceived while I was under Dr. Sacks' care. He is awesome, and the staff at Columbia Fertility (including the phlebotomists, who you will interact with very often) are fantastic.
Well I'm definitely biased and since I'm on bedrest I have lots of time to keep voting for Dominion Fertility, Dr. DiMattina was the one who gave us a chance and made it happen. I love their staff and they will always have a special place in my heart.

We will add another vote for Dr. Gordon (and Dr. D!) at Dominion Fertility.
We weren't an easy case...AMA...but we are now enjoying our boy/girl twins...we will be forever indebted to Dominion, their fantastic lab staff, and their caring, WONDERFUL nursing staff. WE.LOVE.DOMINION |
