If you don't mock someone out loud to make them feel bad did you ever really judge them properly? |
People spend way too long curating their lives on Facebook making it look like they’re having a blast all the time when in fact they sat on their couch and binge watched some show. |
While I'm sure plenty of people do do that, there are also plenty of people, like me, who don't 'curate' so much as post photos as I take them when I deem them social media worthy quality. I'm sure they make my life seem idyllic since yes, its true, I don't post a picture of my television of me watching The Bachelorette, or a video of me yelling at my kids to eat their veggies or put on their GD SHOES! But if you think I sit around trying to create a perfect image all the time then you spend more time thinking about my motivations than I do thinking about what to put on FB/insta. |
Major highlights like graduations, etc? Sure! Day to day stuff? Tons of pictures all the time? Meh |
To show how cool she is, of course. Cooler than YOU. |
I actually enjoy seeing my friends' lives. Call me crazy. |
If you don't like my pictures unfriend me. Or you could explain to my grandparents and other not computer savvy family members how to use WhatsApp and I'll use that. But until you do that, since they already know how to use Facebook, I'm going to keep posting pictures of my kids/family. |
I do my best judging silently. |
Ehhh there’s a difference.
I don’t have many “Facebook friends”: family, CLOSE friends. I post when we do things: cherry picking, new house, etc. I have a few “friends” who have hundreds of friends and post 10-15 photos a day: “London LOVED the splash pad!” So obnoxious. Every kid loves the splash pad. I unfriended her because it’s annoying and show off-y. |
What is social media? |
I post a lot of these activities so 5 years from now when I've forgotten totally about it, my real friend Facebook reminds me. I smile at FB's thoughtfulness and get to relive the moment the photo sparked. |
Now see, I do my best judging with my husband. It takes all kinds! |
+1 Social media might not be for you, OP. |
If you don't like what someone is posting, you can unfollow them. That way they are on your friends list but their posts don't show up in your feed. So if the pics of my DS having a good time with friends/family/the dogs bother you, please feel free to unfriend me or unfollow me. I won't be offended. |
I was accused of being ashamed of my kids because I didn't post. Yes, really. |
