Which high school in MoCo has nicest/newest building?

You can also reach out to your interested school’s PTA to see if they have been bombarding the council with emails about their renovation plans.

Exactly. Gaithersburg High School is amazing to look at, but you couldn't pay me to send my kid there.

Blair hands down, but we all know most on DCUM never go east of Georgia Avenue.

Poolesville is a total dump. That poor school has been neglected for years. I can not even imagine the amount of mold that is in that school. So many leaks, so many closed bathrooms, so many HVAC issues, etc... I remember seeing a You Tube video on it a few years back and they still haven't done anything.

They need to start an IG page like Georgetown University did. Call the leaders out on their neglect.

What's your first-hand experience with Gaithersburg High School, or are you basing this on the at-a-glance report, rumors, and stuff you read on DCUM?

Isn't Gaithersburg HS 5 years old?

Its a beautiful building but 10+ years old (not old for a school but not new) and over crowded

The interior is great; the exterior, oth, reminds me of a prison with those little windows. But, at least it's in pretty good shape, though, especially compared to Wootton.

With NO parking and now "learning cottages" sprinkled right in the middle of the already too small parking lot. Their athletic field was falling apart too. Cancerous pieces flying all over. Did they get that fixed?

DP.. sorry, but I'd rather have the athletic field falling apart than the building (like some of the other HS). Yes, they have portables, as do other schools. Unfortunately, too many schools are over crowded. Which HS don't have portables? If they don't, that means they are ripe for rezoning.

How come for the most part Sherwood is underutilized? Or maybe I can't read the tables?

Not necessarily underutilized, just not so overutilized as to need portables. Nothing in the Poolesville cluster is listed either.

In upper MoCo? I was in Churchill the other day, that we are zoned for , and there was cracked and peeled off paint in the major hallways, dirty walls, etc. Is that regular end-of-year wear and tear? How often does it get repainted? I heard Poolesville building is in bad shape. What high school in this area has been recently redone, or is most recently built, or will be newly built in the next couple years?

Wheaton was the most recently rebuilt, in 2016 (along with Thomas Edison). Before that, Gaithersburg in 2013 and Paint Branch in 2012. Seneca Valley is being rebuilt now, and Northwood and Woodward are up next.

Wheaton has an amazing theater space. They said at an orientation that there will not be another like it because of the cost. It is so nice!

I've been told that Churchill parents refuse to have their kids in a temporary building so that the current building can be redone.

I don't have kids at Walter Johnson, but I was at a meeting there for my cluster & I thought it was beautiful... HUGE (I can see how easily one could get lost in there) but beautiful.
