While this is an interesting story, I am really amazed at the attention that it's getting. The Post has multiple stories today, including the front page and the front of the style section. The style section article credits seven writers and two researchers (despite of which, it is extremely weak on substance). Does this story really require this much attention? Seven writers? Does the Post think this is the next Watergate or something? For that matter, isn't giving this much press to this couple sort of like serving whiskey to an alcoholic? I commend the Salahis for achieving their goal of having all the world's attention focused on them.

That was me you quoted. I agree with you. The photo I saw before was from a distance and unflattering, especially because you couldn't see the Indian inspired detail. Instead, the gold just looked strange. But in all the other photos I've seen since, yes, pretty enough dress. |
| Maybe a lot of the attention is due to DC being thought of as a political town with old boring celebrity politicians. I heard the woman had called the Redskins a few years back, said she used to be a cheerleader and asked to be added to the alumni roster. Apparently, she was never a cheerleader for them. |

Not usually in favor of resorting to name calling, but they REALLY sound like nutcases. I have agree with the administrator on this one, they got everything they wanted, unfortunately. |
| I think the focus should be off them and more on security. I can't go upstairs in my federal office bldg without a badge or escort. This is serious. |

Hopefully Bravo will have the descency NOT to pick these people. Don't get me wrong. I actually enjoy RHWs series for the entertainment factor, self-satire and transparent self-promotion of the participants (don't be Tardy for the Party!). But Salahi-gate is waaaaay too Balloon Boy. It's not funny. It's dangerous.

Sanjay Gupta's wife pulled off the blonde-in-a-red-sari/lehenga look MUCH better. Maybe security folks confused an actually famous couple with this now infamous duo? |

Couple things.
Did you see the photo where the wife had her had on VP Biden's chest-It really bothered me how inappropriate that was but also how dangerous if she had been some sort of terrorist. I cannot stand VP Biden but he is the VP and needs to be protected--they were also way to close to the President. I think someone should be fired over this and am also bothered by some of the ex secret service who came on tv saying this was something to "learn" from since the couple didn't look like a threat. What? I am sure there are some good looking terrorist who dress well that are capable of hurting people. Please tell me we weren't just looking for the "menacing" looking ones!! The other thing that struck me were the financial disclosers the media dug up including their house. We live waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than them in terms of house value and we don't consider ourselved rich or socialites--maybe it's because a big night for us out is pizza with the kids and we save our money but I can't imagine pissing away money on a depreciating asset like a car or couture clothes. Weird. |
| I'm glad that the vast majority here are disgusted by them, as I am. I hope they are prosecuted for lying to the Secret Service, for trespassing, for whatever. Losers. |
I know, seriously! When I saw all of those writers I couldn't believe it. Must have been a REEEEAAALLLY slow Thanksgiving for news! Meantime, I thought that post article was terrible. I'm not one to completely eschew gossip, but that article read like it was written by a scorned 17 year old who finally got some dirt on the prom queen. Who cares about this couple? They clearly live under a mountain of problems and I'm not sure it's any more appropriate to mock them and give them so much air time as it was for them to crash the dinner. Everyone involved in that story should be embarrassed - the couple, the writers, the editors, the publishers, and honestly, I felt embarrassed reading it. Such pure gossip belongs in US Weekly, not the WaPo! |
Yeah. I don't know a lot about this "Virginia Horse Country" thing. Like Mike Eisner, I'm always surprised to hear that people have money down there, but I suspect Napa it ain't. Maybe I'm wrong because I don't have any other Horse Country bios in front of me, but it seems to me like a big fish/ small pond kind of thing. |
This might have been a little more conspicuous. Part of the attention appeal with this story is that the couple are such socialites - so naturally they blended in. IMHO, they got greedy - their cover was blown when it was time to be seated for dinner and, obviously, there were no seats (placecards) for them. Instead of continuing to mill around, they should've subtly slipped out ...unless they WANTED to get caught in hopes of causing a media hype (which they successfully did). |

Ha! Ha! Ha! Big Bravo to this couple, this is America and "people fake it till they make it".
Finally they are celebrities...cool.... |

You are NOT wrong. In fact, you are SO right! Very perceptive. People there seem to have never left. Scary. |
| They're shopping their experience around to the news networks for six figures, according to anonymous news execs. Hope no one pays these con artists. FOX probably will! Now we know a little more about Salahis' motivation, anyway. |
