| Why is GFR charging 3600$ for club fees? |
| The Balimore DA is just the WS DA costs. They do practice 4x a week. |
Because you are Great Falls. |
Metro United charges $3600 all inclusive (all training, fields, events) for full time DA players. This is a reduction from WS VA costs. There is no GFR DA. Its just the administrative machinery and fields.... |
Most coaches will charge somewhere around $150 per 90 min session, and maybe $200 for a game. So if they are lucky or good enough to have 2 teams practicing 3x week plus games on the weekend, they'll be making about $1200 / week. Multiply that by 40 weeks a year (figuring 6 weeks off in summer/winter, also accounting for weather related cancellations) and you're talking about something in the neighborhood of $50,000 a year. Enough to live on, but hardly "raking in the cash" (esp if self-employed and paying for health ins). For those with day jobs, it only works if their other job is flexible enough to accommodate their practice schedule. You can't very well work 9-5 in Tysons and coach 2 teams in Springfield - you'd never make it to practice on time. Those who combine something like being a school teacher with a coaching gig at night probably have the most manageable schedule and will be doing OK financially, but it's not always a very sustainable life style if they plan on having a family some day. |
I think most coaches make half that amount for two teams. |
| Do any of the local clubs disclose their finances in a transparent way, explaining how much they collect, how much goes to the fields rental, how much goes to salaries for coaches and administration, etc? We know that they collect big $$$$ from parents each year, but I am yet to see an comprehensive disclosure through public financials of how the money is spent. If they coaches are not paid well, then who gets to keep the rest of the money? |
|
Let's see 2000$ (average) 13 players = 26,000$ For 3 teams lets say (Red,white,blue) = 78,000
That's 78,000$ now U9-U16 = 624,000$ !!!! Now that's just the boys side.. Should we multiply that number times 2 for the girls??? |
You forgot Rec and the extra camps like Summer and Winter camp... Futsal extra training like dribbling and striker clinics |
I haven't seen this. I know that many (if not all?) of the clubs are organized as nonprofits, and at least some have bylaws that specifically forbid compensating directors / board members. Some budget goes to financial aid (but not nearly enough, as has been discussed on this board.) So... just because the clubs are nonprofits doesn't mean they don't take in more than they spend, so maybe they have major cash reserves at some of the bigger clubs? Just guessing. But in theory nobody is "raking it in" on an individual level -- which isn't to say that a problem of same or similar value couldn't be offered at a lower cost by someone more budget-conscious. |
LOL. OK, now divide by all the coaches and staff for that example club. The numbers shrink back down. |
Our team (not club) does. It's in the annual parental commitment letter we sign. |
How are your team's costs, compared to what you're seeing on this thread? |
Excellent. I'm the poster paying less than $2000 per year. |
|
My DC plays ECNL and most of the cost is related to travel. it is not only the player's travel cost, but gas and hotel for the parents too. We have occasional airplane travel and flights for a group can be expensive.
Our club does fundraisers, but it isn't like those dollars go directly into my account. I might be the leading fundraiser and the entire team benefits. Just things to think about for those of you that are cost conscious. |
