That’s on the university for being clueless. Isn’t she from CA? All it takes is a Google search to figure out that she is lying. |
If you have no idea what people are talking about you always have the option to not post. |
Do they google search all the applicants? I mean it took a snitch to the FBI for them to even be onto this scam. |
That's classic. I guess that as long as your HS doesn't have a particular sport that you can claim to belong to be top dog on a "club team", right? What a riot. An insight into how the cheaters cheat. And to think that the colleges are duped into recruiting them, lol! |
USC knew. A guidance counselor at the girls’ private school placed a call to USC mentioning that their school didn’t have a crew team. The bribes crew coach got a call, informed Singer, who informed the Laughlin family and the dad screamed at the guidance counselor who apologized for doubting the girls. |
NO COXSWAIN WOULD HAVE AN ERG PHOTO! |
My son is a coxswain who ergs with this team but I would never submit that. Maybe these colleges need to get a clue. |
Because she’s an idiot or she has a terrible lawyer. She’s going to jail. Her daughter is a moron and prob any just did whatever her parents told her to do. |
EVERYBODY was in on it. I have no doubt the colleges allowed the coaches to sell extra spots to full-pay students if they didn’t have enough athletes to fill them. The colleges, in turn, received large donations. |
I don't know how I feel about it- possible that her parents threatened her or pressured her. I would be good if the parents served a little time and a lot of money-- the kids who knew should definitely be expelled. |
Because rowing is hard and it interfered with her screen time. Signed rowing Dad |
This shows knowledge of and intent to participate in the scheme by Loughlin and the husband. They going down... |
I love how the "source" on the OP on this says that the target letter had an ominous tone, as if that were surprising for a target letter.
Boston USAO is taking an incredibly hard line on this in insisting on jail time for everybody. Not that I mind one bit, particularly if otherwise unknowing kids are allowed to reap the benefits of the scheme and simply paying your way into something was the basic scheme. I anxiously await Hoffman sentencing. If she actually will do time, they will be beating down the door to the office. |
"Prosecutors argued that the Hollywood actress Felicity Huffman should get a prison sentence between four and 10 months for paying a college consultant to arrange for cheating on her daughter’s SAT, court documents show. The prosecutors plan to push for the low end of that range." |
And she didn't "just "join the team" for the same reason that my son doesn't "just join" the Lakers. There aren't no-cut teams in D1 (or D2 or D3 sports). There are probably literally 10,000 young women her age who row better than her who would like to go to USC. What I mean is why didn’t she just join the rowing team in high school so she didn’t need to lie? I am sure mommy and daddy could have afforded it as well as expensive camps and clinics? Because rowing is hard and it interfered with her screen time. Signed rowing Dad Because crew practice often is at 5:30 AM and takes up most of a kid's free time. Even for coxswains who keep the team organized and do a lot of work if not physical workouts. They actually have to be really smart. The best coxswains study the race courses, know how to motivate the rowers and follow coaches instructions about stroke rates and racing strategies. Not for someone who admits online that they are only interested in college for the parties. Signed a crew mom (of a D1 rower) Think |
