MIL buys inappropriate clothing for 6yo

I wouldn’t deal with getting a second shirt just so my kid can wear a boxy cropped shirt that’s inappropriate and ugly.

I’m not going to make my kid wear a tank top with the crop-top, the solution is very clearly to get rid of the crop top.

Give it six years and that’s what the kid will be wearing anyways. I agree not completely appropriate for a six-year-old, but I wouldn’t refuse to buy a tank top if the kid liked the shirt. That way she could wear it and not have any skin showing. Plus, I might save the shirt for the summer and have her wear it with a pair shorts over her bathing suit to go to the pool.

I agree the boots are trashy and dangerous. The shirt is not as big an issue though.

Nothing wrong with those slogans. You sound nasty and controlling. Just send her the new sizes every so often and tell her a size up from what you need.

I don't plan on sending her sizes because we don't need her to buy the kids clothes and I don't plan on putting the kids in the clothes she buys. If MIL finds me nasty or controlling, I won't lose any sleep over it. I don't see why I should feel obligated to use everything she buys just because she, unprompted, decided to buy it and mail it to us.

My 6 year old would die for these boots. I'd let her wear them for dress up play-they'd be awesome with her Batman costume. I'd probably just put a tank on under the shirt.

The kid doesn’t care about the shirt. The grandma does. There’s a difference.

I’m not going to encourage my kid to wear trashy clothes so that her grandma will be happy. Of course, if my kid was older and she wanted trashy clothes, my tolerance level would be very different. But come on! At 6? I’m not going to normalize that stuff.

The kid has plenty of tanks, but why layer an ugly shirt on top of a perfectly good one?
