Muldoon unacceptable

Has anyone emailed the exec director to complain as OP suggested?

Old satellite image. Rotate many of those fields 90° and imagine the ground squishing under your feet, and you get a better sense of the current field status.

Why can't they find a place at either at Mclean Linway Terrace or Lewinsville Park? The fields are so much nicer there.

This photo doesn't really do justice as it 'looks' kind of ok but when you stepped on the grass you sank about an inch or so and water squished up from all sides. There were puddles formed in all the divots and the referee said it was simply not safe.

I would have played on it in college, when drunk.

Because McLean uses them.

DC has tons of fields that cannot be used due to zoning limits put in place during construction. In Upper NW you have great facilities at GDS, Sidwell, St. Albans and NCA, Washington International and the Field School all of whom have nice turf pitches but all of which cannot be used except by the students.

https://ggwash.org/view/62267/dc-has-plenty-of-athletic-fields.-why-is-it-so-hard-to-use-them

"For the most part, private institutions need either to receive a zoning variance or have an approved campus plan in order to build an athletic field. For at least ten years, DC's Board of Zoning Adjustment has routinely insisted that any approval for an athletic facility at a school contain a provision that it only be used by students at the school."

I did.
If you're in BSC, email her.
If you're at another club, email your director and ask them to avoid Muldoon at all cost.

Keep in mind, this is after a fairly dry spring. It's not like we had terrible rain storms all last week before the weekend games. Grass fields at other, non-Muldoons locations were fine and not wet at all this weekend.

You'd think that Bethesda's and Potomac's agreements with Muldoons for these fields would require some minimum level of field quality. Maybe those two clubs should threaten to terminate the agreements if Muldoons doesn't improve the field quality. Appreciate that would not improve anything the rest of this season, but it could be fixed over the summer.

The exec director should email every club director and every team manager with a sincere apology. Does anyone think it's worth while to email like the exec director on NCSL and express concern that any games at Muldoons should be rescheduled or at least not to accept Muldoons as a viable soccer field?

It can't hurt.

The crazy thing is that the guy who owns the fields is very often out there in his golf cart monitoring the fields and keeping people from walking in the roped off areas.

My kids have played at both Potomac and Bethesda for many years. We're in the small minority that always enjoyed playing at Muldoon's farms (for regular league games, at least) because it's beautiful out there even if the fields have never been great. But as others have said, what we saw this weekend was far worse than the normal state at Muldoon's.

What about Mclean and Langley HS football field? Can people rent them on weekends? I see a lot of lacrosse events on weekends at Mclean HS football field. Langley HS football field is mostly emptied on weekends. Does FCPS rent these facilities? I know they rent the school on weekends for usage.

Having dealt with BSC before...they do not care. It would be best to email NCSL. Maybe they can put some pressure on the them.

If you live in Potomac/Bethesda area and you play for these clubs, your home games might be farther away than your away games.
