These are younger age groups where the records are pretty much meaningless. So what if they forfeit? |

Agreed that Muldoon's Farm sucks as a soccer field, but it is a good experience for kids to learn in life that not everything is equal.
I've explained to my kid that the Bethesda kids come from an economically disadvantaged background, and this is what it is like for them, and a good example of how the other half lives
We've played in further out Maryland before, where the fields were barely mowed - grass was a few inches tall. Definitely was a disadvantage to our team who is used to much faster fields, but it was still a good experience. My kid just wants to play competitive soccer, and Bethesda is just about as competitive as they come. |
And that compounded the problem, the fact that many of these games were BSC vs. Arlington, which should be among the most competitive games of the season for these teams. And watching them try to play yesterday was just sad...both teams were trying to play nice passing, possession games, but no one could dribble more than a few feet without losing the ball, and you couldn't pass without the ball bouncing wildly all over the place. |
Bethesda parents are paying $3K per year for their DC to play soccer. This is how you’re teaching your kids about how disadvantaged kids lives? Please disregard my comment if you’re being sarcastic. |
The smiley face didn't give it away? Really? |
| Bethesda will listen when nobody signs up for their tournament this year. |
| Muldoons is terrible but it’s always been. Potomac also uses it for their home field at the younger ages. There’s a shortage of soccer fields so the better fields go to older teams. |
| Some parents told us that during one of their games a horse broke free and ran across the spectator's area at a full gallop. That must have been pretty crazy. |
In a similar vein, several years ago at a Potomac tournament game at the Polo Fields, a deer ran out of the woods, onto the field, and collided with a player. Neither the deer nor child were seriously injured, but it must have been a sight to see. |
I think I was there a game after this incident. I do not recall people talking about a collision, though. This was probably 4 years ago? |
+1000 Been at muldoon's for many years. This was absurd this week. . . It wasn't even gently sloping; steep muddy slope. And a big part of muldoons - that was flat and playable - was roped off. They were keep it nice. and making EDP league play absurd. Presumably, saving for the tournaments in May? (Potomac Soccer) as was a disaster the other year . . . or polo fields, who knows. In any event, BSC isn't even getting what they paid for with the past 10 years. |
| Muldoons has to be very high on the list of worse places to play soccer in the US. |
| Anyone have any pictures or video of it? |
| Remember 2 yrs ago the fields were so bad they kept the spectators 2 fields away from the games being played on the inner fields at the Memorial Day tournament. The parking was a complete mud pit as well. instead of the club having a complimentary tow service to help out. The tow company just sat there parked the whole day charging people 100.00 a pop to get them out . must have watched them pull 15-20 cars out that weekend. |
Yes, but not a chance I'd ever post it on this forum. Comments would devolve into bashing the clubs, the players, the style of play, the parents etc.. |
