Folks who are mad about Inspired not moving the kindergarten waitlist early in the summer last year - this is one (of many) scenarios that could cause that to happen.

But ITS is very different from other schools in how its K wailist moves.

It was only last year that ITS had the infamous heavy August waitlist movement. Let us see if it happens again or if it was a fluke.

No, it was a lot in 17-18 too.

Current family re-enrollment just started today so I doubt they will have any insights on movement until May when that concludes

Thanks to the 2 PPs. I figured this much, but just wanted to check.

OP, we are a Seaton family in a similar situation and just wanted to respond on the differentiation piece - we met with Principal Jacobs (who brought in the teaching teams for math/language) to discuss this very issue and were very impressed, enough so that i'd feel comfortable through 5th. (Can't speak to ITS, however). We might leave for a different reason - moving - but right now we're happy staying. I'd also consider commute as part of this if it's relevant because Seaton's neighborhood vibe is something I cherish. It is a tough choice and I'm sure whatever you decide will be fine!

If you would commute from Shaw to ITS by car, maybe take a look at the NEBT project. RIA is going to be quite a disaster starting this year through 2022 or longer. It sounds like you have time to sort things out, but it's something to consider.

I would suggest you also talk with some of the families that have chosen to stay at Seaton beyond PreK. They may have a bit of a bias, but I think most of the families would be pretty honest with you about any challenges they have seen and/or opportunities. Each family will have had a different experience, as will each child, so I really encourage you to seek out multiple people to chat with.

In 17-18 (as well as 18-19) it was only their K class that moved a lot from August to October. No other grade moved crazy spots from Aug to Oct so that should tell you that it's an anomaly and not standard practice, otherwise we'd see similar patterns in other grades. 2017-18 ITS called 31 spots on WL for K.

Same period:
DCB called 11
CMI called 14
Haynes called 21
Bridges called 32
MV called 12 (but they called 35 in 2018-19)
TR4 called 15 (but they called 39 in first) and 31 in 1st for 2018-19

I'm sorry, I just don't see a plot on ITS' behalf. If you have other patterns you are seeing, please share.

This. ITS is not that hard to get into so you should be able to find people who stuck with Seaton.

Also think about whether you want to start at ITS and then move to a third school if you get in later. A number good enough for an initial matxh at ITS will likely get you into MV P St if last year's data is any indication.

I prefer ITS to MV for a variety of reasons. The only reason we would change schools again is if we happen to move to a Deal feeder neighborhood, but this is something we are considering on this decision..

I can’t figure out the data for last years K class at MV P St. It moved way more than normal. Does anyone know why?

Thanks for this! I do feel we are lucky here to have two good options. Maybes that's why the decision is so agonizing...

I am talking about how last year they made 64 offers for K.

update: after talking to people familiar with both schools and reading more into the details, we are enrolling at ITS and will be attending for K. We can always come back to Seaton for 1st grade and beyond if we don't like it, but I prefer ITS' K curriculum.

Now to make a graceful exit from Seaton somehow...

Right but there were 100 people that didn’t get a call. Also, for 1st they only called 2 people. Your statement is misleading and could persuade someone to make a choice they wouldn’t otherwise.

The point is, the OP has a decent lottery number amd should consider carefully how to handle an offer from a school she ranked higher than ITS. We were in this situation and avoided telling our DC much of anything until late August when we felt more certain. Don't tell your DC he or she is going to ITS if you are going to do a U turn and end up at MV instead.
