Sister packed my stuff without asking me

Agree with the chorus - you are completely wrong, OP. You should have arranged to get your stuff earlier, and not at her convenience.

Yes, you are very, very wrong. She was kind enough to let you store stuff there for free and then was kind enough to box up your stuff for you so it would be easier for you to move it. I truly cannot understand why you’re upset.

'm betting three years. Maybe 2 years and 10 months.

Props to OP for not sock-puppeting herself, though. As far as I can tell, it's unanimous.

Grow up, OP.

I hope you have apologized to your sister after reading these responses.

OP you should definitely apologize to your sister - and graciously thank her for storing your stuff for however many months or years. Packing and getting your stuff was YOUR job, not hers. Don't blame her for your failure to volunteer to do so earlier.

Anonymous wrote:I used to share an apt with my sister for 2 years. I got married and moved out but due to space issues had some of my stuff at the old place. She finally moved places recently and texted me 4 days before moving saying she packed my stuff into boxes and labeled them and I should come by and get them.

I’m very annoyed as I think it was rude and disrespectful of her to go through my stuff and pack them without asking me. I wish she’d given me a heads up so I could’ve come by to sort through and pack up.

When I told her she said “you’re just picking a fight with me. You knew I was moving but chose not to come by to pack up.”

She had mentioned moving a few months ago but it wasn’t a set plan. I thought she’d let me know a month or two before she left.

Am I wrong?

Yes, you’re wrong. Your stored crap was impeding her move. You knew she was moving, you should have picked it up

The very rare DCUM unanimity has happened. Effectively the universe has spoken. OP is in the wrong and owes her sister an apology. Full stop.

Np here agreeing with everyone else, you are wrong. You owe your sister an apology.

Np +1 to everyone else.

Good that she didn’t send you a bill for storage!

Agree. Plus, OP never came back to answer questions which just confirms DCUM is 1000% right on this one.

You should have taken everything with you. She moved, she shouldn't street for you. You were rude.

Just once, I would like to see an OP come back and admit that they were wrong. And do the right thing (apologize, and thank the sister, and I'd also add take her out to dinner to show she's gracious).

It’s infrequent, but I’ve seen it happen a couple times.
