| Tesla X with captain’s chairs in 2nd row. My kids can walk right between them to the 3rd row. I can also move the 2nd row seats even with car seats in them. It’s awesome! |
No it really doesn't suck. It is just that Americans are stupid and susceptible to marketing and on top of that whine about pretty simple things like making their kids climb over a seat. You don't even see BWM or Porsche SUV's in Germany but both companies are glad to cash in on Americans stupidity. Just get a damn Minivan and drop the pretentiousness. The performance of a BWM is completely wasted sitting in traffic around here - if you want people to know that you are wealthy pass around your pay slip but most people don't care. |
this is good to know! thanks |

The X7 is a GLS competitor. People have expectations of being able to move between the rows like they’re in an airplane aisle which is kind of unrealistic.
The X7 interior is as good as it gets unless you want to spend $100k+ https://www.caranddriver.com/photos/g23792370/2019-bmw-x7-suv-photos-info-gallery/ |
This. And if there was that much interior space, it would necessitate a significantly wider, taller, and longer SUV. Then people would be bitching about the X7 is "soooooo huge. I hate it!" BMW can't win. |
Maybe, but the Highlander design for the second row captains seats is much more practical. Plus it comes in a hybrid version. Frankly, people buying these cars have multiple kids and the mess that comes along with kids, food, sports equipment, etc., makes me want to spend less money, not more, for a vehicle purchase. |
This is OP. I just looked at Land Cruiser and I like it. It is roomier and easy to get to third row, but it's not as big as a suburban. And it feels luxury and is not a minivan. It checks my boxes. |
Land Cruiser doesn't come with captains chairs and also has a fold-down second row like the X7? Glad you found something but your requirements make no sense. |
it's much different. land cruiser second row folds down flat horizontally and then up again vertically so there is TONS of room to get to third row. BMW is a squeeze to get through. even for a child it was tight! Read the reviews on land cruiser access to third row and then you will see. or go check one out! I checked both the x7 and the land cruiser out this week and they are much different. the land cruiser has a lot more room and much easier access to third row. You are correct that it does not have captain's chairs which would be ideal but it's still a lot better than x7. This video is painfully long but you can see what I mean at the 3:37 time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qpgOaml5dg |

land cruisers are awesome!
until you hit month 4 or 5 or put 4,000 miles on them. then they are awesome sitting in the shop with "electrical anomalies" or whatever BS they call poor engineering. |
| Looks like a copy of the xc90 |
I thought toyotas were very good on maintenance?! are you talking about Range Rovers?? |
I’m the pp poster who also has both cars and there really isn’t a difference. |

The best SUV I ever had was the Ford Expedition. Totally loaded. Drove and felt felt like being in a big pillow.
Sadly my kids are grown and I have no use of this type of vehicle. |
