Will Bowser win reelection in 2022?

Charles Allen has designs on the job and people around him think (1) Bowser is bad at her job and (2) demographic change will increase his chances.

Nope. I know for a fact she is planning on a third term. Where else would she go? there is no real next step for DC politicians.

Really?

Crime is up, infrastructure is worse, DCPS issues, chancellor issues, conflicts of interest and ethical lapses, more graffiti everywhere.

She's been great for her crony friends and campaign contributors who win nice DC contracts.

I don't disagree with what you're saying, but how many voters have school aged children in public schools in DC? (Serious question, I don't know the answer)

I forget the exact number but it's lower than most other cities (and cities tend to have fewer children than the country as a whole). Although the youth population started catching up about ten years ago and has been growing faster than the adult population, and is scheduled to do so for the next ten years.

Another factor to consider is that DC's families tend to be a lot poorer than the city as a whole. About 75% of DC's kids come from families that live below the poverty line. As a general rule poor people are less likely to vote.

First of all, I need a link. Secondly, are you including charters. As a mom with a kid in DCPS, this sounds crazy.

DC native here. Bowser is great because she represents the status quo and DC's old guard establishment. Common sense, ethics, logic, and being great are apparently not what most residents in this city want. Dysfunction, disorganization, and a culture of low expectations are what is valued here. DC can be backwards. Oftentimes, it operates like a developing city with lots of corruption and chaos. The mentality here is built on dysfunction. It would take years to dismantle that type of thinking in this city. Yes, DC has made great strides over the years, but it is delusional to think that a real change is going to happen real soon.

Bowser will win not because she is great, but because DC residents fear placing an effective person in the mayor's seat. Also, race and ethnicity come to play as well. I'm going to be honest here. DC residents will never vote for a white mayor it is not going to happen during my lifetime. It does not matter if the candidate is great or not. As long as the candidate is black and adheres to the old guard they will have a shoe in period! Bowser is not the one who needs to change. It is the mentality of DC residents. So, the real question is why do DC residents continue to vote for the status quo?

Great in DC equates to status quo. Bad in DC equates to effectiveness. Some DC residents behave like abused victims with Stockholm Syndrome. Instead of wanting improvement from a dysfunctional city, residents vote for more years of dysfunction. Yes, bring on the increase crime, low quality schools, and poor services I can't wait!

Does DC stand for dysfunctional city?

I would not say that DC is dysfunctional, but I also would not say that its leadership is great.

https://dcps.dc.gov/page/dcps-glance-enrollment
77% of kids in DCPS are economically disadvantaged.

https://www.dcpcsb.org/data/evaluating-student-enrollment/student-enrollment
72.8% of public charter school kids are economically disadvantged (this is way down from last year's 77%).

The DME's master facilities plan has share by sector. It's 50% DCPS, 45% charter, 5% private. It's at https://dme.dc.gov/MFP2018, pages 86 and 89.

You can google the definition of economically disadvantaged yourself, it's shockingly poor.

I hope you are. Have you ever had to deal with him? He's a condescending ass who puts on a sickening facade of being progressive. I don't believe a word out of his mouth and only prefer him to the straight up corrupt losers like Vincent Orange.

DC has 87,000 students in its public schools. We DC public and charter school parents are more diverse racially than we once were.

There are enough parents that they could indeed be a significant voting block.

I don't love Bowser. But I don't have a strong feeling about anyone else.

Maybe Kenyan McDuffie.

Yes, but things were different 15-20 years ago.

You mean the Kenyan McDuffie who sends his kids to private school instead of DCPS?

Not sure this voting block of public school parents is gonna feel about that.

Im not a DC constituent, but everytime I think of her, I recall when DC had it's first covid case and she just kept repeating the risk of community transmission was low at the press conference. LOL what a moron.

Mc Duffie has far left views on crime and we have huge youth crime issues in this city. His way is not the answer.
