(Serious question, I don't know the answer)[/quote] I forget the exact number but it's lower than most other cities (and cities tend to have fewer children than the country as a whole). Although the youth population started catching up about ten years ago and has been growing faster than the adult population, and is scheduled to do so for the next ten years. Another factor to consider is that DC's families tend to be a lot poorer than the city as a whole. About 75% of DC's kids come from families that live below the poverty line. As a general rule poor people are less likely to vote. [/quote]
