OP here. Our last Miele lasted 7 years. We paid $500 for a repair in November then it died in January. That’s why I’m hesitant. |
| Love love love my miele, but you should choose what looks best - math the other stainless appliances in your kitchen for example. Match the handles. |

We are on our second Bosch and, to be honest, I'm not thrilled with this one. I don't like the layout of the top silverware drawer and the second drawer doesn't hold as many large cups as I would have liked. I loved our old Bosch, though.
If this one goes, we'll probably look at Miele, since I recall liking the layout of the drawers better. At the time, we were in the middle of a huge kitchen renovation and didn't want to spend the extra money. |

I love my Bosch that is about 5 years old now. Took a while to figure out how to load it, seems to fit smaller dishes than I have.
My FIL bought a Bosch, a lower end one and it’s not as good as the one I have. He doesn’t like his as much and noticed it’s not as quiet as mine. Don’t go cheap, get an extended warranty if you can. Mine came with a 5 year warranty and I haven’t had any issues. |
| I bought a Bosch and it had a broken part (likely the retailer's fault, not Bosch). Huge pain, but Bosch customer service was amazing. They tried to get it fixed and the problem clearly was not their fault. Ultimately I had to get a replacement dishwasher ... got another Bosch and it has been great. |
| My Milele DW is 14 years old and going strong- not one service call. I do not rinse the dishes, and they come out very clean every time. I have the rack up top and love it- makes it so easy to unload silverware. I would get one again in a heartbeat. It's been worth every penny. |
I was exactly where you are two years ago. We already paid for Bosh and waited for the delivery, it never occurred to me to read reviews on Bosch having such a respect for German technology. Then I did.So many people have a problem with few things that would bother me: The drying is not hot but only cold. They use some technology that is based on condensation. I want my things heat dried because to me it is additional way to disinfect dishes. Then people complained that the dishes are always wet no matter what and they have to leave the dishwasher open and prop with towels for day to get them dry. Seriously? One thou dishwasher and such a medieval systems? Then the last straw was the amount of water it uses. I am all for saving water and all that but come on, it uses like a gallon of water or some other mini amount to wash and rinse dishes. I could never do this amount of filthy dishes in such a tinny amount of water with such a ton of detergents. I would suspect some invisible chemical residue on the dishes to which I don't know but who knows.. I would not trust anything that is rinsed in such a small amount of water. All in all I went with GE highest model possible. It is okay, not thrilled with it but it is okay. I am definitely more happy then I would be with Bosch because it heat dry that I can turn on or off, It has bottle sprays that I love, it has third tray and it fited in our limited space being full size otherwise. It had tons of cycles and lots of other options that you can turn on or off. What I don't like about it is that I never know how much longer the cycle will be because there is nothing that tells me that, no color changing light, no clock projection on the floor nothing. Bosh is better that way but that way only. My GE tells me only if the cycle is on - orange light, or done = green light. I paid for it 1000 Dollars and is it worth it? I replaced my builder grade 12 year old dishwasher that was still good and could do the same job so hm... yeah it is okay, it washes beautifully and no problem and I never rinse ONE thing before putting it in it , included bakeware that has lots of burn suff on it or pots with stack on things. It is because it has built in disposer and filters so dishes come clean no matter what. What nobody told me about Bosh was that I will have to clean filter like every few days and that it does not have disposer so I have to take all foods out religiously and that I will NEED a proprietary drying agent to avoid spots on the glass. I don't like that. I use ZERO drying agents with GE, I don't like more chemicals than I absolutely need and risning agents are the chemicals after all. I love to unload dishes when they are dry but still hot. They never come with any spots. So just as I had my heart set on Miele or Bosh, after reading further and watching people struggling with Bosh on youtube in their reviews I settled for GE and I am happy with it. Two years, no problem. Cleaned filter twice. 30 second job. A child can do it. |
| PP.. forgot to add, we run dishwasher at least once a day. |
| I suggest you to google the specific model of the dishwasher you like and google "that model + problems" and read what kind of problems you can expect. Alternatively go to amazon, search for it and read reviews, often time you can learn from the bed ones most of the truth you can never learn from advertising. |
| Miele - not everybody can fix it, this is European brand and so if it breaks you are in trouble in the sense that all parts will have to be ordered and the wait without a machine is long. Also check the reliability. If someone is offering too good of a deal there are questions to be asked. |
Miele sets their own pricing, it doesnt go on sale. It does have a 10 year warranty offer now. |
