We are trying to decide between a Bosch and Miele dishwasher. I am replacing a Miele that died after 7.5 years. Apparently, this is rare. Anyway, we were going to buy a Bosch for $1000 total. One year warranty. BUT Miele has a promotion where you get a 10 year parts and labor warranty included. It would be around $1550 all in ( because we would get a credit for our recent service call). So, it's a $550 difference. Worth it? We use he dishwasher heavily, probably 10 times a week.
I was exactly where you are two years ago. We already paid for Bosh and waited for the delivery, it never occurred to me to read reviews on Bosch having such a respect for German technology. Then I did.So many people have a problem with few things that would bother me: The drying is not hot but only cold. They use some technology that is based on condensation. I want my things heat dried because to me it is additional way to disinfect dishes. Then people complained that the dishes are always wet no matter what and they have to leave the dishwasher open and prop with towels for day to get them dry. Seriously? One thou dishwasher and such a medieval systems? Then the last straw was the amount of water it uses. I am all for saving water and all that but come on, it uses like a gallon of water or some other mini amount to wash and rinse dishes. I could never do this amount of filthy dishes in such a tinny amount of water with such a ton of detergents. I would suspect some invisible chemical residue on the dishes to which I don't know but who knows.. I would not trust anything that is rinsed in such a small amount of water. All in all I went with GE highest model possible. It is okay, not thrilled with it but it is okay. I am definitely more happy then I would be with Bosch because it heat dry that I can turn on or off, It has bottle sprays that I love, it has third tray and it fited in our limited space being full size otherwise. It had tons of cycles and lots of other options that you can turn on or off. What I don't like about it is that I never know how much longer the cycle will be because there is nothing that tells me that, no color changing light, no clock projection on the floor nothing. Bosh is better that way but that way only. My GE tells me only if the cycle is on - orange light, or done = green light. I paid for it 1000 Dollars and is it worth it? I replaced my builder grade 12 year old dishwasher that was still good and could do the same job so hm... yeah it is okay, it washes beautifully and no problem and I never rinse ONE thing before putting it in it , included bakeware that has lots of burn suff on it or pots with stack on things. It is because it has built in disposer and filters so dishes come clean no matter what. What nobody told me about Bosh was that I will have to clean filter like every few days and that it does not have disposer so I have to take all foods out religiously and that I will NEED a proprietary drying agent to avoid spots on the glass. I don't like that. I use ZERO drying agents with GE, I don't like more chemicals than I absolutely need and risning agents are the chemicals after all. I love to unload dishes when they are dry but still hot. They never come with any spots. So just as I had my heart set on Miele or Bosh, after reading further and watching people struggling with Bosh on youtube in their reviews I settled for GE and I am happy with it. Two years, no problem. Cleaned filter twice. 30 second job. A child can do it.
