We are trying to decide between a Bosch and Miele dishwasher.
I am replacing a Miele that died after 7.5 years. Apparently, this is rare. Anyway, we were going to buy a Bosch for $1000 total. One year warranty. BUT Miele has a promotion where you get a 10 year parts and labor warranty included. It would be around $1550 all in ( because we would get a credit for our recent service call). So, it's a $550 difference. Worth it? We use he dishwasher heavily, probably 10 times a week. |
| I’ve never had a Miele, but I love my Bosch and would highly recommend it. |
|
Which ever one you think will most impress your friends and relatives. Seriously? It's a frickin dishwasher. It heats up the water then sprays it as it releases the soap. Then sprays some more to rinse, then bakes the dishes dry. My GE does an excellent job of that.
"Yes, but it's not a Bosch or a Miele." |
Ok, but my home is worth 2.3 million so, I have to keep resale in mind. Sorry if that offends you. |
This poster has nothing of value to add. Not sure why they replied. |
Right. I've had 5 dishwashers across multiple homes and the Bosch is heads or tails above all of them. Including GE. |
| Didn't look at Miele but we went with Kitchen Aid over Bosch. Bosch was rated tops by CR at the time but reviewers had lots of complaints. It has been a few years so maybe Bosch has improved. |
Good to know. Thanks. Was the Bosch recent? I heard the quality has declined over the last few years. |

OP here.
I guess my main question is: price wise which is the better deal assuming they are comparable otherwise? Is $550 worth a ten year warranty? |
| We have had both and Miele is 1000 times better and more durable. It’s like the difference between a VW and a Porsche. |
| Love my Miele. It’s the fastest dishwasher I’ve ever had. Wasn’t there a thread recently w/ people complaining about Bosch? |
Found it: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/766400.page#14037888 |
Get what you want, you can afford either. Nothing special about Bosch. I would not care as long as it worked. I got a Bosch as it was the cheapest/sale and its fine. Inside is smaller than my old whirlpool. |

Two dishwasher features I want:
Silverware you don’t have to close the other racks to get to or bend to floor (I.e. in bottom rack or a shallow top one - mine (whirlpool) is on the inside of the door and it is incredibly lame). 30-min cycle. Idk if non bosch’s Have the 30 min but my last place had a Bosch with one and it was fabulous and I miss it. |
| I am the poster who had complained about the terrible asphalt smell in our new Bosch in another thread a few months back. We got it replaced with another unit. Bought it from home Depot. While I like the Bosch there are pros and cons. It certainly does a good job cleaning, but it has less space. I like the silverware tray as well as the filter that can be cleaned very easily...but the faint asphalt smell persists. We are making do, but for a $1k appliance we are not 100 percent satisfied. |
