Diamond studs for every day wear? What size?

Anonymous
I have studs that are 1 carat each and I hate them. They are too heavy and I never got used to them.

+1. I swear some of you were raised by wolves. Diamond earrings are for evening.

Not everyone adheres to WASP-y notions of what's appropriate. Diamond studs are perfectly acceptable daytime wear in a lot of cultures. The fact that you deem this to be savage (i.e. akin to being raised by wolves) says a lot more about you than it does about the people wearing the earrings your judging.

Oh please. this comment is about copying the royals, as recently reported: https://www.news.com.au/entertainment/celebrity-life/royals/why-meghan-and-kate-cant-wear-diamonds-in-the-daytime/news-story/c449890553a6aab2b7eedc00c466015f

And lets be real, no one on the board is talking about wearing the type of Diamonds that Kate and Megan have access to. Stud diamond earrings, ie not dangly, are fine during the daytime.

The royals didn’t “invent” the rule. It’s a long-standing requirement that well-bred ladies save diamonds (other than engagement rings) for dinner and later. You don’t have to agree, but I think it’s always helpful to learn about unspoken class indicators.

Did you really link an article where they mention push presents and making your diamonds edgy by getting a second piercing? Do better.

You're assuming that there is only one culture in this entire world. That seems very close minded and frankly ignorant.

This thread went off the rails! To answer ops question, I have 1.6 tcw but I wish I could have gotten 2, but I couldn’t really afford it. We paid 5k for the 1.6 and 2 ctw would have put us closer to 8k, and I just couldn’t stomach that price at this time. But if you could swing it, go for it!

Read para. 1 of the article. Diamonds only in the evening. Do better. Or - wow - google it for yourself and you will find out that etiquette rules say only engagement ring diamonds during the day.

Who cares about these weird rules? Do what makes you happy and don't worry about the etiquette police

LOL this same "etiquette" site advises you to get a double piercing in your ear. Yeah, because that's classier than wearing small diamond studs during the day.

Diamonds only in the evening, including the ones in your second ear piercing? Ok.

As a descendent of the culture from which most of those "well-bred" women's jewels were literally stolen...I say they can take their "requirements" and stuff it. Is that classy enough for you?

I have 0.5 carat round ones per ear. They are small. I would like to get 1 carat per ear.

I have .75 ct princess cut set that I bought myself when I got my first imp. job where I could afford them. I love them and wear them often. I plan to buy a 1.4-1.5 ct round set.

I liked the poster above who said get a big can afford but not so big that you'd feel terrible if one went down the drain. Thats a good rating.
