Low quality metal. Use only gold or platinum.

She could also just be sensitive to the alloy. I have 14k earrings and have the same reaction as PP.

1 TCW for the first holes, 1/2 TCW for the rest.

I want mine small enough to sleep in them comfortably, and not totally hate myself if I drop one down the bathroom sink.

I wear 1 ct CZ studs- they are good quality but not the real thing. 2 cts total (1 ct per earring). I like this size.

Mine are 1 ct total weight. I generally don't have much other jewelry on, so wish they were 1.5 ct.

How much would you all recommend spending on these?

+1. I swear some of you were raised by wolves. Diamond earrings are for evening.

Depends on the cut and your overall style. I'm petite, but I'm also Indian-American and probably wear more jewelry and louder colors and prints than most (though all Western styles). I wear 1ct princess cut solitaires and they don't look too garish on me. Note that princess cut diamonds tend to look smaller for the same weight as brilliant cut ones do. If someone's style were much simpler than mine, I think they would want a smaller set of solitaires and probably a different cut as well.

Not everyone adheres to WASP-y notions of what's appropriate. Diamond studs are perfectly acceptable daytime wear in a lot of cultures. The fact that you deem this to be savage (i.e. akin to being raised by wolves) says a lot more about you than it does about the people wearing the earrings your judging.

I actually prefer the smaller one for every day use (3/4 carat TW). I have several larger diamond earrings, but would never wear a 2 ctw during the day ( I have smaller ears, maybe it looks different on large ears).

Oh please. this comment is about copying the royals, as recently reported: https://www.news.com.au/entertainment/celebrity-life/royals/why-meghan-and-kate-cant-wear-diamonds-in-the-daytime/news-story/c449890553a6aab2b7eedc00c466015f

And lets be real, no one on the board is talking about wearing the type of Diamonds that Kate and Megan have access to. Stud diamond earrings, ie not dangly, are fine during the daytime.

Wolves.... really? I enjoy all of my diamonds day or night. Is it crazy to wear your diamond wedding ring during the day or save it just for night. I wear beautiful Bulgari diamonds earrings whenever I want! And trust me they look amazing!!!
You do you, and I’ll gladly do me!

NP - the "wolves" person is actually correct. Etiquette says no diamonds during the day except for engagement ring. https://www.tatler.com/article/the-jewellery-rules
