2hour delay. Reevaluate at 7 mcps

I think MCPS did fine. More snow came than expected.

Awkward; my kid is halfway to school.

Some teachers and high schoolers we’re privy already there or on their way. Buses will have to turn around.

Presumably they did not want to close on November 15, when thanks to Governor Hogan's executive order, the calendar only allows for 2 snow days.

My kid was driving to school. I am terribly upset that MCPS didn’t make the right judgement call.

Yeah, I get that, but if the meteorologists’ consensus is right and this winter is snowier than normal, it won’t end up mattering. 2 snow days was never going to be enough. Make the decision based on what’s best for today.

Extremely irresponsible to shut down after 8:30am. How can they justify this? What changed in the last 30 minutes?

In Silver Spring near the Beltway, the temperature has been dropping for the past two hours. It's just above freezing now (9:00) but was 37 when we got up at six. I imagine it's colder in the northern part of the county.

I'm in Rockville with ice pellets hitting my window and snow for the past 2 hours

Hence no change for 2 hours and they announce past 8:30am?! I hope they get complaint after complaint, this is just beyond wrong! And let's not blame Hogan, MCPS effed up! Should have closed before 6am at the latest.

MCPS has wiggle room (see this next year's calendar). They wanted to be martyrs with this year's cal. my .02.

Just came back from magnet bus stop run in Rockville. It is messy so I assume it is worse in Germantown.

What wiggle room does MCPS have?

People just aren't happy without 100% certainty. But you can't have 100% certainty in forecasting.

Snowplows are only just now starting to come by. Did the Maryland State Highway Administration eff up? Can we blame Hogan for that? Why weren't they out pretreating the roads?

Loudoun and Fairfax called it last night. Everyone's looking at the same reports. Wasn't that much of a surprise.

No, Fairfax closed at 8am and the parents are mad because they had to pick their kids up from before care after having just dropped them off. But MCPS said, we can top that!
