Another Lexus RX or Audi Q5 or Toyota Highlander

Assuming you haven’t actually drive the RX then...Q5 is a wheezy 4 cylinder.

I have indeed driven the RX. There is absolutely zero road feel. It has more body roll in corners than anything I’ve ever driven. Felt horribly mushy.

The turbo 4 in the Q5 is a great engine, but the 3.0 turbo in the SQ5 is phenomenal. The car is so broadly acclaimed for a reason.

The RX is not intended to be a sports car, and not everyone pushes their car to the handling limits on their daily commute. If you’re criticizing the body roll I think you’re missing the point of the car.

The turbo 4 in the base Q5 is anemic and the steering is lifeless. The SQ5 is $60k, the steering is still bad, and the ride is *really* bad for every day use. The GLC300/GLC43 is the better choice in the euro lux crossover segment.

Not to mention, all this discussion is moot if OP wants to own the car for more than 5 years without mechanical issues.

What problems have you had?

It's still under warranty and the dealership service department always seems to be overwhelmed and they have very few loaner vehicles.

The worst thing was a couple of weeks ago. I'm driving it and all of sudden the car just starts shaking. My DD and I both thought it was an earthquake. No lights went on the dash at first, then the engine light came on and some other light. Got the car towed to the dealership (its still under warranty), was told they had 80 cars in front of me waiting for service so they didn't know when I'd get it back. Took a week - something to do with getting all the spark plugs and something else replaced.

It's had several recalls - the most recent said not to park it indoors because the car could catch on fire after turning off the ignition. That also took several days for the dealership to handle.

Last year when I had owned it only about 18 months, the battery just died - no I didn't leave anything on - dealership told me I had one of the "bad batteries" whatever that means.

It burns a lot of oil - get a low oil light about every 5000 miles.

But I like driving it. It especially handles well in snow/ice/rain. I just don't like having a car that I'm always afraid is going to break down. The shaking/engine light incident happened on the Beltway, right before the American Legion bridge at 6PM - not a good place for a car breakdown, especially with a kid in the car.

All our other cars are Toyotas and we haven't had these issues with them.

Highlander. One of the best vehicles on the road at any price.

I think they’re expensive for what you’re getting.
