I like driving my Q5 but I've had more issues with that car than any other I've ever owned - and I don't even have 30,000 miles on it. I'll be going back to Toyota for my next car.
What problems have you had?
It's still under warranty and the dealership service department always seems to be overwhelmed and they have very few loaner vehicles. The worst thing was a couple of weeks ago. I'm driving it and all of sudden the car just starts shaking. My DD and I both thought it was an earthquake. No lights went on the dash at first, then the engine light came on and some other light. Got the car towed to the dealership (its still under warranty), was told they had 80 cars in front of me waiting for service so they didn't know when I'd get it back. Took a week - something to do with getting all the spark plugs and something else replaced. It's had several recalls - the most recent said not to park it indoors because the car could catch on fire after turning off the ignition. That also took several days for the dealership to handle. Last year when I had owned it only about 18 months, the battery just died - no I didn't leave anything on - dealership told me I had one of the "bad batteries" whatever that means. It burns a lot of oil - get a low oil light about every 5000 miles. But I like driving it. It especially handles well in snow/ice/rain. I just don't like having a car that I'm always afraid is going to break down. The shaking/engine light incident happened on the Beltway, right before the American Legion bridge at 6PM - not a good place for a car breakdown, especially with a kid in the car. All our other cars are Toyotas and we haven't had these issues with them.
