Elissa Silverman, DC at-large council

This includes former Council Member Harry Thomas who stole $300k from children's programs. Today on the Kojo show, she compared these crooks to Nelson Mandela and MLK.

Also on the Kojo Show, Reeder refused to offer an alternative Paid Family Leave plan. She says she opposes the existing plan that Silverman authored, but "doesn't have all the answers" as to how to change it. That's a big tell. The opponents of the existing law don't have a replacement. If they have their way, we will have no paid family leave. Don't let them fool you into believing they have a better plan. They have no plan.

Comparing people like Harry Thomas to Nelson Mandela, and MLK is disgusting pandering/racism and I hope voters seeit for what it is.

Agreed. Normally I would not vote for Silverman, as I think (despite her journalism experience) that she lacks an understanding of basic economics in the real world and is too far to the left. I'd like to vote for a reasonable centrist who understands the private sector. But at least Silverman has integrity. By contrast, Reeder doesn't. She's running a race-baiting campaign, and her supporters read like a sordid collection of DC's seamier politics. I'm surprised that Reeder isn't claiming Marion Barry's endorsement from the grave.

So, I'm voting for Silverman.

She really isn't running a race baiting campaign. She's great. Bowser didn't initially support her. I wish she hadn't. Reeder is a business owner and the leave law doesn't make any sense for small business owners. It's a terrible law and most of the recipients don't even live in
DC. Im the COO of a large nonprofit in town. We will basically have to use donor dollars to cover this cost and we already offer paid leave.

Reeder's campaign is definitely using race-baiting. That may not be Reeder's choice, but that means that she is not in control of her campaign. She has an interesting resume and personal story. But she has become a pawn of the Mayor. Ironically, she is the Mayor's second choice. I hate to say it, but she is not even a first-rate pawn, but rather a second-rate.

I will say again, the choice is not between the current paid family leave law and a better paid family leave law. The choice is between what we have and nothing. Reeder has no plan. Nor does Bowser have a plan. Both of them are simply carrying the business community's water.

If you don't think her campaign is race-baiting, then you aren't following the nuance of the language.

It was reported in the WaPo the rally last Sunday for Reeder people were passing out “trust black women” shirts.

I'm a paid family leave voter who will be voting for Elissa Silverman, and see no problem with these shirts. There's real reason for Black women to want to be represented and be excited about Black women candidates.

But Reeder's campaign is filled with failed and convicted political operatives, and as pointed out above, she hasn't articulated any alternatives to the UPLA, just that she opposes the paid family leave law. She's a parrot for Bowser.

Too bad Bowser endorsed her. That's the death-knell for me. I am writing in Vince Gray for mayor and voting for Elissa.

David Schwartzman is pro-BDS, so nope!

I'm also going to vote for David Schwartzman. I don't want to make endorsements for races in which I can't vote and none of the others in which I can vote are competitive.
