William and Mary tumbled to 38. It is now a worse ranked school than Florida. It (William and Mary) is in desperate shape—stagnant number of applications, poor resources, and very few male applicants.

Poor resources? I thought it is a public ivy with lots of research opportunities for undergraduates

too stressful and kids aren't happy there. stress is more acceptable when it comes with a top brand name. w&m's brand is commensurate to the stress.

Princeton Review ranked then as some of the happiest in the country, actually. Faculty resources are dismal.

Huge caveat. I have a kid at TJ and STEM kids are lining up for the Engineering at Illinois and sometimes of the other STEM.

Urbana Champaign is a snore, but it they are engineering students, maybe they won’t care.

The metrics used by USNews is junk now. Social Mobility as measured by graduation rate of Pell Grant recipients?!!! Total BS!!
They have also removed admit rate completely and lowered the weight for scores and class rank. They just randomly adjust these percentages or weights and tweak them till they get the answer they want. Pathetic.

UVA is obviously the crown jewel in the DMV

UF! As a grad, I like to see that ranking!

+1,000 - Wake up, people.

Admission rate is a misleading, easily-gamed metric that encourages toxic behavior among colleges. If USNews really removed it, that's great news and makes them more credible.

CHicago and Columbia are not on yale’s Level in the slightest.

You're right. They are way ahead of Yale.

Grinnell jumped. Davidson stayed where it is. I always feel like it is a school that is under appreciated on this forum.

But being #10 LAC is still very good, no?

but that is a measure of popularity, not the quality of the school.

Yeah. Of course it's been "up and coming" for many, many years.

Even rankings are being socially engineered nowadays.

I think it’s great. And it’s a great school. Which is why it’s surprising that people looking a top east coast LACs often aren’t considering it.

They’ve always been engineered. Don’t be naive.
