Following the school bus/meeting bus riding kids at school on the 1st day

I don’t know anyone who follows the bus, but many parents walk their child in on the first day as tradition at our school. It happens well past K. We take photos at our house since the school is a madhouse. Many parents are taking photos at school. We drive them.

what is with all the coddling these day? Breakfast for parents? Walking kids into school? For real?

When we were kids my mom took a quick picture (no sign) and off we went. Pretty sure that after we left she sat around watching her soaps.

I think the PPs are talking about Kindergarten. My mom definitely walked me to Kindergarten.

At our FCPS the PTA was hosting a coffee for parents after drop-off this morning, not the school. I do think the first day has become more of a thing since social media exploded and you saw folks posting the first-day photos of their kids. I can't ever remember having a photo taken of me when I started school in the 70s, but now it's just a thing.
